Anne Diamond has given fans an update on Eamonn Holmes’ health after the presenter was forced to miss this year’s TRIC Awards. Taking to the stage at the ceremony held at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London, she informed attendees about Eamonn’s absence.<\/a><\/p>\n She said: “There are a couple of people who would love to be here but can’t. Eamonn Holmes is not very well at the moment but he is doing well, he is recovering and we hope he will be back with us very soon.”<\/p>\n GB News secured the Award for Best News Programme for the fourth year running. Last year, Eamonn collected the award for Best News.<\/a><\/p>\n However, as he proudly accepted the accolade on behalf of GB News Breakfast, he faced jeers from sections of the audience.<\/p>\n After using a wheelchair ramp to reach the stage, Eamonn thanked the production team and viewers. Yet the moment was overshadowed by audible boos from some attendees following the announcement of GB News Breakfast’s victory, reports the Mirror<\/a>.<\/p>\n Despite the divided response, the Northern Irish broadcaster delivered a heartfelt tribute to fellow presenter Charli Peters, who had earlier won the News Presenter award for his investigative work on grooming gangs in the UK.<\/p>\n (Image: Instagram\/eamonnholmes)<\/p>\n He also paid tribute to a colleague, though the conclusion of his speech turned uncomfortable after an audience member heckled for Eamonn to ‘get off’. Whether or not Eamonn caught wind of the heckling, he wrapped up his speech on a warm note, saying: “For the thousands of people who voted, that is brilliant for us so we say thank you, thank you, thank you, to anyone who did bother to vote.”<\/p>\n His latest absence comes as the GB News presenter, 66, continues to battle a series of health problems that have left him reliant on a wheelchair. Back in April, Eamonn suffered a stroke, though he reassured fans at the time that he was doing well.<\/p>\n In 2016, Eamonn underwent surgery on both hips to tackle chronic hip, leg, and back pain. However, during his recovery, he tumbled down the stairs at his home and fractured his shoulder.<\/p>\n He then endured a debilitating viral infection, which he put down to stress stemming from a tax dispute with HMRC. The infection triggered a severe rash on his face and posed a serious risk to his eyesight.<\/p>\n In May 2022, he developed acute spinal problems that resulted in bladder and bowel difficulties and a nine-day stint in hospital.<\/p>\n Then in November 2022, he suffered another fall at his Surrey home, once again fracturing his shoulder and requiring further surgery.
