The original Tekken<\/a> is being brought to PS5 on the 25th June, but this isn’t a case of Bandai Namco allowing the game to be emulated through Sony’s PS1 classics initiative, like it did with Tekken 2<\/a> and Tekken 3<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Instead, it’s being revived by specialist retro developer Hamster, as part of its Arcade Archives series. As such, its official title is Arcade Archives 2 Tekken<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Much like the company’s previous efforts, this iteration of Tekken will include modern conveniences like “difficulty and display settings, button remapping, rapid-fire options, the ability to create multiple save files at any time, and even a rewind function to undo your last move”.<\/p>\n

Several new modes of play are thrown into the deal as well: “Arcade Archives 2 series introduces a brand-new mode called Time Attack Mode, in addition to the Original Mode, Hi Score Mode, and Caravan Mode.”<\/p>\n

Arcade Archives 2 Tekken will be priced at $16.99.<\/p>\n

For what it’s worth, I think the original Tekken is especially rough by today’s standards.<\/p>\n

Tekken 2 improved on it so dramatically that the franchise’s first instalment often gets forgotten \u2014 but it’s still packed with nostalgic characters, stages, and music for anyone who dabbled in the PS1 release all those decades ago.<\/p>\n
