Anne Diamond has given fans an update on Eamonn Holmes’ health after the beloved presenter was forced to miss this year’s TRIC Awards. Taking to the stage at the prestigious event, held at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London, she addressed the crowd with news of his absence.<\/a><\/p>\n

She said: “There are a couple of people who would love to be here but can’t. Eamonn Holmes<\/a> is not very well at the moment but he is doing well, he is recovering and we hope he will be back with us very soon.”<\/p>\n

GB News claimed the Award for Best News Programme for the fourth year running. Last year, Eamonn was on hand to collect the Best News award on behalf of GB News Breakfast, though the occasion was somewhat overshadowed by audible boos from a section of the audience following the announcement of the win.<\/a><\/p>\n

Having made his way to the stage via a wheelchair ramp, Eamonn expressed his heartfelt thanks to both the production team and loyal viewers. Despite the frosty reception from some quarters, the Northern Irish presenter went on to deliver a warm tribute to fellow presenter Charli Peters, who had scooped the News Presenter award earlier in the evening for his investigative reporting on grooming gangs across the UK, reports the Mirror<\/a>.<\/p>\n

He also took a moment to pay tribute to a colleague, though the closing moments of his speech were overshadowed when an audience member heckled him to ‘get off’, leaving the occasion on an uncomfortable note. While it remained unclear whether Eamonn caught the heckling, he wrapped up his speech on a positive note, saying: “For the thousands of people who voted, that is brilliant for us so we say thank you, thank you, thank you, to anyone who did bother to vote.”<\/p>\n

His most recent absence comes as the GB News presenter, 66, continues to grapple with ongoing health issues that have left him reliant on a wheelchair. Back in April, Eamonn suffered a stroke, though he reassured fans at the time that he was doing alright.<\/p>\n

Back in 2016, Eamonn had surgery on both hips to ease chronic pain in his hips, legs, and back. However, during his recovery, he took a tumble down the stairs at home and fractured his shoulder.<\/p>\n

He subsequently battled a painful viral infection, which he put down to stress from a tax dispute with HMRC. The infection caused a severe rash across his face and posed a risk to his eyesight.<\/p>\n

Then in May 2022, serious spinal problems led to issues with his bladder and bowel, resulting in a nine-day hospital admission.<\/p>\n

In November 2022, he had another fall at his Surrey home, fracturing his shoulder once more, which necessitated further surgery. He remains committed to exploring different treatment options, including spinal injections and potentially stem cell replacement therapy, as part of his continued efforts to restore his mobility.<\/p>\n
