{"id":556354,"date":"2026-06-27T03:52:07","date_gmt":"2026-06-27T03:52:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/556354\/"},"modified":"2026-06-27T03:52:07","modified_gmt":"2026-06-27T03:52:07","slug":"luca-guadagnino-gives-hope-for-artificial-release","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/556354\/","title":{"rendered":"Luca Guadagnino Gives Hope For &#8216;Artificial&#8217; Release"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tAs <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/artificial\/\" id=\"auto-tag_artificial\" data-tag=\"artificial\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Artificial<\/a> remains in distribution limbo, <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/luca-guadagnino\/\" id=\"auto-tag_luca-guadagnino\" data-tag=\"luca-guadagnino\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Luca Guadagnino<\/a> appears hopeful for the film\u2019s release, but not so much for the state of the world living with <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/ai\/\" id=\"auto-tag_ai\" data-tag=\"ai\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">AI<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tPrefacing that he \u201ccan\u2019t say much because we are right in the middle of this situation,\u201d the Oscar nominee teased another potential route for his film about OpenAI CEO <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/sam-altman\/\" id=\"auto-tag_sam-altman\" data-tag=\"sam-altman\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Sam Altman<\/a>, which <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/amazon\/\" id=\"auto-tag_amazon\" data-tag=\"amazon\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Amazon<\/a> MGM recently <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/2026\/06\/luca-guadagnino-artificial-amazon-jeff-bezos-1236962694\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">dropped from its slate<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\t\u201cI was reading a great article yesterday recalling how, back in 2003, CBS cancelled a major drama series about the Reagans due to pressure from Republicans,\u201d he said on the Italian news show <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/GdiGardy\/status\/2070590958056489272?s=20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Otto e Mezzo<\/a>. \u201cIt was actually cancelled, though it later aired on a smaller channel.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tGuadagnino explained that \u201cthe issue isn\u2019t <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/artificial-intelligence\/\" id=\"auto-tag_artificial-intelligence\" data-tag=\"artificial-intelligence\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">artificial intelligence<\/a> itself,\u201d adding: \u201cWhat matters most to me is how people are completely changing the face, not just of society \u2014 in terms of consumption habits and how we interact with these tools \u2014 but the very face of the identity of a place like the United States and the entire world.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tThe director noted that part of the film was shot in San Francisco, \u201ca wonderful city, one of the great, distinguished U.S. cities, Alfred Hitchcock\u2019s city \u2014 a place of great beauty but also great despair, with so many homeless people, so many people living under the influence of fentanyl, while these wonderful, silent, self-driving cars glided past them.<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"c-lazy-image__img lrv-u-background-color-grey-lightest lrv-u-width-100p lrv-u-display-block lrv-u-height-auto\" src=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/wp-content\/themes\/pmc-deadline-2019\/assets\/public\/lazyload-fallback.jpg\" data-lazy-src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/Sam-Altman-openai.jpg\" alt=\"OpenAI\" data-lazy- data-lazy- height=\"683\" width=\"1024\" decoding=\"async\"\/><\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\tOpenAI CEO Sam Altman <\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tGetty<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\t\u201cThat, to me, is the perfect image to illustrate the theme. It is a disturbing image \u2014 more than just disturbing,\u201d added Guadagnino.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tLast week, Deadline reported that Amazon <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/2026\/06\/luca-guadagnino-artificial-amazon-jeff-bezos-1236962694\/\">will no longer release Artificial<\/a>, and other distributors are now screening the film.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\t\u201cWe have the utmost respect and admiration for Luca Guadagnino as an award-winning filmmaker \u2013 not to mention a longstanding relationship that we hope to continue,\u201d an Amazon spokesperson said in a statement. \u201cWe believe that Artificial will be better served if it were released by a different studio and are working closely with the filmmaking team to find the film a new home.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tAmazon and OpenAI also have a long-term relationship. Earlier this year, Amazon announced a $50 billion investment in OpenAI.
