The top prize of \u20ac20,000 every month for 30 years was won by an online player in Wicklow, while the Tier 2 prize of \u20ac2,000 a month for five years was physically bought at the SuperValu store in Castle Street Shopping Centre. <\/p>\n
Officials from the National Lottery visited the store with a load of bubbly, which rained down on the staff, even giving the dozens of colourful balloons a good soaking. But what everyone was really excited to know was, where were the winners?<\/p>\n
Emma Monaghan, from the National Lottery press office, put a bit of a dampener on that one because they weren\u2019t actually there. <\/p>\n
\u201cI can tell you that both of the winners have made contact with our prize-counting team,\u201d Emma said, \u201cso arrangements are underway at the moment. We’re looking forward to meeting them in Lottery HQ, in our winner’s room.\u201d<\/p>\n
Asked whether winners have to share their good news \u2013 if not their good fortune \u2013 Emma said: \u201cIt’s every player’s choice whether they’d like to share their news with the public, with their family and friends, or if they wish to remain private. But whatever their choice is, we help them with that.\u201d<\/p>\n
The double whammy is also a big win for the National Lottery, because it\u2019s actually the first time an Irish winner has scooped the EuroDreams, which is a Europe-wide draw.<\/p>\n
“So this is our very first Tier 1 winner, who has won the \u20ac20,000 for the 30 years. So it’s pretty historic, considering we had two Irish winners on the one draw on the one night.\u201d<\/p>\n
It\u2019s an eye-watering amount of money for someone to win. Some gathered were reduced to tears. Thank the lucky stars there was a rain of champagne to mask them. <\/p>\n
“We’ve had an amazing summer of top prizes,\u201d Emma continued. \u201cWinners just across the country. But to get our first top prize winner in the EuroDreams [in Wicklow] this month, it’s fantastic.\u201d<\/p>\n
Asked whether it was equitable that one winner should collect such a large sum of money \u2013 like the Kerry family that scooped \u20ac250m this summer \u2013 rather than just giving less to more, Emma said that the EuroMillions team and the National Lottery team \u201care always reviewing the games to see how they can make them better for players\u201d.<\/p>\n
“It is just the nature of the game as well. And week to week, there are people claiming incredible, life-changing prizes across the Lotto, EuroMillions, now EuroDreams, scratch cards, Telebingo and online games.”<\/p>\n
One store where punters could try their luck is actually the SuperValu in Bray, where manager Tanya McGarry said that, aside from the big Euro Dream win, two other customers had scooped over \u20ac1,000 in the last week buying Lotto tickets in the store.<\/p>\n
“So that’s three lucky tickets we’ve sold now in the last week,\u201d she said, but doesn\u2019t know who the big winner is. <\/p>\n
\u201cThe staff are buzzing \u2013 it’s none of us \u2013 but staff are buzzing,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
But are they really? Are they not just buzzing from envy? <\/p>\n
\u201cNo, we’re all really hoping that it’s someone local in the community,\u201d said the Bray native, who has worked at the store for nine years. \u201cMaybe it\u2019s someone that we know. It’s a small little town, isn’t it? So hopefully it\u2019s somebody that we know. It’s a good day for Wicklow. Wicklow is winning at the moment.\u201d<\/p>\n
The life-changing EuroDreams prize amounts to a total of \u20ac7.2m over the next three decades.<\/p>\n
The lucky winner matched all six numbers plus the Dream number, in Monday night\u2019s draw, marking the first-ever EuroDreams top prize win in Ireland since the game launched in 2023. The winning numbers were 1, 3, 5, 11, 20, 31 with a Dream number of 5.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, continuing with the \u2018Wicklow is winning\u2019 buzz, another Wicklow player won big after scooping the top prize of the \u20ac1m draw, on Tuesday, September 9. <\/p>\n
The winning numbers in the Daily Million draw were: 02, 05, 09, 12, 16, 23 and the bonus was 26.<\/p>\n
National Lottery spokesperson Sarah Orr had the following advice for Daily Million players: \u201cWhat a week it\u2019s been so far for our players in Wicklow! Tuesday night\u2019s Daily Million draw saw a Wicklow player become an overnight millionaire after they scooped an incredible \u20ac1m.<\/p>\n
“The winner now holds the title of 6th Daily Million top prize winner of 2025. We are encouraging all of our Daily Million players in Wicklow to check their tickets very carefully today as one player now has a ticket worth a life-changing \u20ac1 million. The winner is advised to sign the back of their ticket and keep it safe.
