{"id":557631,"date":"2026-06-27T23:49:09","date_gmt":"2026-06-27T23:49:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/557631\/"},"modified":"2026-06-27T23:49:09","modified_gmt":"2026-06-27T23:49:09","slug":"man-90s-dies-in-road-collision-in-co-laois-the-irish-times","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/557631\/","title":{"rendered":"Man (90s) dies in road collision in Co Laois \u2013 The Irish Times"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">A man in his 90s has died following a road crash in Co <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/laois\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/laois\/\">Laois<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">The incident occurred at 10.05am on Saturday  on the R433 in Tullyroe in Abbeyleix, when a moving car struck a parked car. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">The driver of the first car, aged in his 90s, was taken to hospital in Portlaoise where he was later pronounced dead, garda\u00ed said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">The second car was unoccupied at the time. No other injuries were reported.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/garda-siochana\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/garda-siochana\/\">Garda\u00ed<\/a> are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the incident to come forward.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Road users who may have camera footage (including dash cam) and were travelling in the area between 9.30am and 10.15am, are asked to make this footage available to garda\u00ed.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Anyone with information is asked to contact Abbeyleix Garda station on 057-8730580, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800-666111, or any Garda station. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"A man in his 90s has died following a road crash in Co Laois.
