(NewsNation<\/a>) \u2014 The U.S. Food and Drug Administration announced nearly one million bottles of commonly used heart and kidney medications have been recalled due to a \u201cforeign substance\u201d being found in them.<\/p>\n

The recall was issued on June 4 by drugmaker Amgen, and it affects heart medication Corlanor<\/a> (ivabradine) and kidney medication Sensipar<\/a> (cinacalcet). In total, the recall affects more than 944,000 bottles of the medications.<\/p>\n

For Corlanor, the affected bottles were 5 mg and have expiration dates ranging from August 2026 to December 2028. Sensipar\u2019s 30 mg tablets have expiration dates of December 2027.<\/p>\n

Blood pressure medication recalled nationwide: FDA <\/a><\/p>\n

According to the FDA\u2019s report on Sensipar, the voluntary recall was issued because of deviations during the manufacturing process, which could impact the safety and effectiveness of the pills.<\/p>\n

Corlanor is used to treat heart failure<\/a> and was approved by the FDA in 2015. Sensipar is typically used to treat chronic kidney disease, according to Amgen.<\/p>\n

Health officials said the risk to patients is low despite the recall.<\/p>\n
