Looking for something skin-crawling and creepy to do this weekend that doesn\u2019t involve a certain \u201cstate fair\u201d? A24<\/a> has got just the ticket for you: 16 brand new minutes of Kane Parsons<\/a>\u2018 smash hit, \u201cBackrooms<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n

Billed as \u201cBackrooms \u2014 Everything Must Go,\u201d the new cut of the liminal horror breakout boasts \u201cbrand new footage\u201d and promises to take audiences even deeper into the mystery of just what the heck is happening in that damn furniture showroom. And, well, that\u2019s about all we know as of now. But, as whiz kid Parsons<\/a> spun his first feature out of his extremely popular multi-episode YouTube series of the same name<\/a>, we have no doubt he\u2019s got plenty of material to share.<\/p>\n

\"S.<\/a> \"'Pan's<\/a> <\/p>\n

Since hitting theaters in May<\/a>, Parsons\u2019 feature debut has become an absolute box office juggernaut<\/a> and an instant cultural sensation. As of this writing, the film has made nearly 185 million in domestic dollars<\/a>, and we\u2019re guessing this new \u201cedition\u201d of the film<\/a> will only add mightily to those coffers.<\/p>\n

From our review, Ryan Lattanzio wrote<\/a>: \u201cImagine if \u2018The Blair Witch Project<\/a>\u2018 had sent Heather, Josh, Mike, and their trembling camcorders shrieking through the consciousness-mutating Shimmer of Alex Garland\u2019s \u2018Annihilation\u2019 instead of the dark Maryland woods, and you\u2019ll have some sense of the mind-bending but occasionally brain-freezing horror of\u00a0Kane Parsons\u2019 mesmerizing feature debut,\u00a0\u2018Backrooms.\u2019 \u2026 The open-source online campfire tale centers on explorers of a windowless, acid-yellow office building that becomes a maze of transmogrifying rooms and corridors \u2014 all hallways and doors leading to nowhere that seem to feed on the existential and psychological fears of anyone who walks through them.\u201d<\/p>\n
