The first image shows Cassiopeia A. Chandra\u2019s X-ray wavelengths are depicted in beautiful blue and purple and have been combined with data from the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST), shown in red and white. <\/p>\n<p> <img src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/250th_casa-800x582.jpg\" alt=\"A colorful nebula in deep space glows with blue and pink clouds of gas and dust, surrounded by countless small white stars against a dark backdrop.\" width=\"800\" height=\"582\" class=\"size-large wp-image-862014\"   loading=\"lazy\" fetchpriority=\"low\" decoding=\"async\"\/>Cassiopeia A <\/p>\n<p>\u201cChandra\u2019s X-ray vision reveals the blast wave that tore through the star, as well as elements in the debris field like iron, calcium, and oxygen,\u201d NASA explains. \u201cWebb\u2019s infrared data also shows the expanding shell of material from the explosion and cosmic dust throughout the remnant.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>Next up is NGC 3603, a \u201ccolossal and brilliant star factory\u201d located in the Milky Way galaxy\u2019s Carina spiral arm. In this image, scientists combined X-ray data from Chandra (the red central portion) with optical imaging data from the Hubble Space Telescope. Hubble captured the towering pillars of cosmic gas and dust, while Chandra showed a dense, \u201csparking swarm\u201d of young, massive stars. This is one of the many places in the cosmos where new suns are born. <\/p>\n<p> <img src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/250th_ngc3603-800x711.jpg\" alt=\"A vibrant star cluster shines in deep space, surrounded by glowing clouds of blue and purple gas, with numerous red and white stars scattered throughout the scene.\" width=\"800\" height=\"711\" class=\"size-large wp-image-862015\"   loading=\"lazy\" fetchpriority=\"low\" decoding=\"async\"\/>NGC 3603<\/p>\n<p>NGC 4726, also known as Messier 94, combines X-ray wavelengths (red, orange, and blue) with visible light data that citizen scientists captured using their telescopes on the ground on Earth (red, green, and blue). Messier 94 is a beautiful spiral galaxy with a bright inner ring, called a starburst ring, which is where new stars are constantly forming. <\/p>\n<p> <img src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/250th_ngc4736-800x800.jpg\" alt=\"A colorful spiral galaxy with glowing, swirling arms and a bright center, surrounded by numerous stars and cosmic dust against a deep space background.\" width=\"800\" height=\"800\" class=\"size-large wp-image-862016\"   loading=\"lazy\" fetchpriority=\"low\" decoding=\"async\"\/>NGC 4736 <\/p>\n<p>Rounding out the quartet of new Chandra images to celebrate America\u2019s 250th anniversary is ZwCL 0024+1652. This is a very distant galaxy cluster in which astronomers have discovered evidence of dark matter. This discovery was made thanks to specially processed data from Chandra (red) and Hubble (blue). Another Hubble image helped form this final composite, and its data appears in yellow and white. Chandra\u2019s X-ray camera reveals a huge reservoir of superheated gas. <\/p>\n<p> <img src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/250th_zwcl0024-800x772.jpg\" alt=\"A colorful image of a galaxy cluster, with bright stars and galaxies scattered in a blue and red glowing cloud, showing the vastness and density of space.\" width=\"800\" height=\"772\" class=\"size-large wp-image-862017\"   loading=\"lazy\" fetchpriority=\"low\" decoding=\"async\"\/>ZwCl 0024+1652 <\/p>\n<p>Alongside these four new images, NASA also released sonifications of three of them.
