{"id":569287,"date":"2026-07-05T00:21:09","date_gmt":"2026-07-05T00:21:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/569287\/"},"modified":"2026-07-05T00:21:09","modified_gmt":"2026-07-05T00:21:09","slug":"ringmahon-rangers-opt-for-black-humour-in-wake-of-cork-all-ireland-semi-loss","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/569287\/","title":{"rendered":"Ringmahon Rangers opt for black humour in wake of Cork All-Ireland semi loss"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Ringmahon Rangers have reached for some black humour in appealing tongue-in-cheek for friendly opposition on All-Ireland hurling day after their FAI Cup walkover stance backfired.<\/p>\n<p>As first revealed by the  <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.irishexaminer.com\/sport\/soccer\/arid-41871129.html\"><br \/>\n                Irish Examiner last Monday<\/a>, Caoimhin Kelleher\u2019s schoolboy club forfeited their second-round tie against Premier Division Bohemians for fear of a scheduling clash with the Croke Park showdown.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">As the FAI set Sunday, July 19 at 2pm for Ringmahon\u2019s home fixture, due to Conference League commitments by Bohs, the Munster Senior League champions predicted a paltry turnout of both fans and players, some of whom were due to attend the decider.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/5144448_6_articleinline_HMZZ5wdXsAARUcc.jpeg\" alt=\"Ringmahon Rangers seeing the ironic side of their withdrawal from the FAI Cup in the wake of Cork's All-Ireland SHC semi-final defeat on Saturday.\" title=\"Ringmahon Rangers seeing the ironic side of their withdrawal from the FAI Cup in the wake of Cork's All-Ireland SHC semi-final defeat on Saturday.\" class=\"card-img\"\/>Ringmahon Rangers seeing the ironic side of their withdrawal from the FAI Cup in the wake of Cork&#8217;s All-Ireland SHC semi-final defeat on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Ringmahon complained that the FAI applied a deadline of last Monday for confirmation of fixture details, placing them in what derided as \u2018an impossible position.\u2019\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">It also emerged separately that the <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.irishexaminer.com\/news\/cork-news\/\">Cork<\/a> club rejected an offer from Bohemians to reverse the fixture to Dalymount Park, allowing Ringmahon players with tickets to thereafter attend the hurling clash at nearby Croker.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">That won\u2019t come to pass after hot favourites <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.irishexaminer.com\/sport\/gaa\/arid-41874057.html\">Cork were well beaten by Galway<\/a> in Saturday\u2019s semi-final at GAA HQ.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">A planned return to training last Tuesday for Ringmahon players was also cancelled.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"ca\" dir=\"ltr\">Gaillimh Ab\u00fa <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/NPMbtz7SWk\" rel=\"nofollow\">pic.twitter.com\/NPMbtz7SWk<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Bohemian Football Club (@bfcdublin) <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/bfcdublin\/status\/2073447093847359683?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" rel=\"nofollow\">July 4, 2026<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p class=\"\">Ringmahon themselves have now seen the humorous side of the forfeiture row by posting a social media post shortly after full-time in the semi-final, posting a poster which read: \u2018Ringmahon seniors &#8211; pre-season friendly wanted on Sunday, July 19. Willing to travel.\u2019\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Meanwhile, Irish Rail have also taken to social media after Cork&#8217;s exit.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Amid reports of all train services between Cork and Dublin being booked out on the All-Ireland final day, they posted: \u2018I can confirm that all bookings for All-Ireland hurling final day are restricted until the finalists have been confirmed.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">\u2018There will be availability for Cork services soon.
