\n A woman in her 50s is dead after yesterday’s incident.\n <\/p>\n

Local people are in shock this morning after the fatal assault of a woman in Laois yesterday. \u00a0<\/p>\n

Emergency services found the woman who was aged in her 50s when they were called to a house on Church St. in Portlaoise shortly after midday. \u00a0<\/p>\n

A man aged in his 70s was arrested at the scene and is now being questioned by Gardai. \u00a0<\/p>\n

Gardai are appealing for witnesses to contact Portlaoise Garda Station.<\/p>\n

Independent Laois TD Brian Stanley says it’s a tragic situation: \u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\u00a0\n<\/p>\n

‘There’s too many women dying due to violent crimes’.\u00a0<\/p>\n

That’s according to Laois TD Brian Stanley as emergency services found the body of a woman who was aged in her 50s on Church St. in Portlaoise shortly after midday yesterday.<\/p>\n
