{"id":57187,"date":"2025-09-11T11:57:09","date_gmt":"2025-09-11T11:57:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/57187\/"},"modified":"2025-09-11T11:57:09","modified_gmt":"2025-09-11T11:57:09","slug":"china-eyes-nationwide-ai-computing-network-as-tech-race-with-us-heats-up","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/57187\/","title":{"rendered":"China eyes nationwide AI computing network as tech race with US heats up"},"content":{"rendered":"<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">China is making progress in unifying the country\u2019s scattered data centres into a nationwide computing network to drive artificial intelligence applications, according to the data centre builders.<\/p>\n<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">China\u2019s Open Data Centre Committee (ODCC), an organisation representing the country\u2019s key AI infrastructure investors such as Alibaba Group Holding and China Telecom, hosted a three-day conference this week to discuss how to transform the country\u2019s far-flung data centres into one unified network.<\/p>\n<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">Alibaba owns the South China Morning Post.<\/p>\n<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">As of the end of June, China had built 10.85 million standard AI stacks, or sets of servers and tools for AI applications, up 30.7 per cent from a year ago, according to China\u2019s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT). The growth was driven by continued AI computing investments by state-owned telecommunications network operators &#8211; including China Mobile, China Unicom and China Telecom &#8211; as well as private Big Tech firms such as Tencent Holdings, Baidu and Alibaba.<\/p>\n<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">While China is denied access to advanced US chips, the country\u2019s data centre builders are finding innovative ways to boost computing performance and share best practices.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"China\u2019s Open Data Centre Committee hosted its annual conference in Beijing this week.
