Apple has started offering free 4K upgrades for select TV shows it\u2019s selling on its Apple TV app, which replaces the now-discontinued iTunes Store. As shared by Sigmund Judge on Threads (via 9to5Mac<\/a>), Mad Men appears to be the only show to have all of its seven seasons upgraded to 4K for now, with other TV series such as The RVers, Auto Exotica, and Ice Airport Alaska only getting quality upgrades for select seasons.<\/p>\n

It does look like that the free 4K upgrades for eligible TV shows are rolling out gradually. Apple started offering 4K\/HDR content on its iTunes store almost ten years ago when it released its first Apple TV 4K streaming box, and at the time, it also started upgrading eligible purchased movies to 4K\/HDR for free.<\/a><\/p>\n

While all of the movies and TV shows Apple offers on its paid Apple TV subscription service are available in 4K\/Dolby Vision quality, that\u2019s not the case yet for the company\u2019s vast library of licensed movies and TV shows you can purchase on demand. That may change over time, however.<\/p>\n

Apple probably deserves credit for upgrading the movies and TV shows you purchase on its digital store for free.
