Author Tomi Adeyemi says she wants nothing to do with the Paramount Pictures adaptation of her best-selling novel. \u201cWhy don\u2019t you post about the adaptation of your first film anymore?\u201d Adeyemi wrote in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tiktok.com\/@tomi.adeyemi\/video\/7658660328879688973?is_from_webapp=1&amp;sender_device=pc\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">TikTok<\/a> caption. \u201cThere is a reason I will not post anything about the adaptation of my work.\u201d She includes a screenshot of a conversation with Amandla Stenberg, who\u2019s starring in the movie, in which she blocked her after Stenberg told her not to mention her name in interviews. Adeyemi says she hasn\u2019t seen the movie and doesn\u2019t plan to.<\/p>\n<p class=\"clay-paragraph\" data-editable=\"text\" data-uri=\"www.vulture.com\/_components\/clay-paragraph\/instances\/cmrb9bzyr001o3b7c7o3piawq@published\" data-word-count=\"137\">Last year, Stenberg received criticism for her casting as Princess Amari, as the character is described as having \u201cdark copper skin\u201d in the book, with some fans feeling <a href=\"https:\/\/www.buzzfeed.com\/leylamohammed\/amandla-stenberg-children-of-blood-and-bone-backlash\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">disappointed<\/a> as they had hoped an actress from Nigeria would have been selected to play the part. \u201cI just want to take this moment to fully address, in video format, this perception that exists of me \u2014 that I steal roles from dark-skinned women,\u201d Stenberg <a href=\"https:\/\/www.yahoo.com\/entertainment\/amandla-stenberg-children-blood-bone-221258353.html?guccounter=1&amp;guce_referrer=aHR0cHM6Ly93d3cuZ29vZ2xlLmNvbS8&amp;guce_referrer_sig=AQAAAFCHfTjctHxCigg2WM5ChjIC9fUVD4xZl8G-eTx_DwpX70R5wIPM8BNZXD5cFNQSefn5Bb7aqM6tcMmSNll5kXO3ZQtsZNKLBl2WPJH70KibCHnmb7baFVHYqtyAlGxn_fa1Rj9NE3vKCCj3xYriZWkc3nuxGnobAp5QTX9y4e_I\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">said<\/a> at the time. \u201cThis year was mostly defined for me, honestly, by contending with what it felt like to receive racist death threats just for existing in the Star Wars universe, and that was a really difficult thing for me to move through. But, honestly, it feels so much more painful for me to feel like I\u2019m at odds with my own community.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"clay-paragraph\" data-editable=\"text\" data-uri=\"www.vulture.com\/_components\/clay-paragraph\/instances\/cmrb8tm0m001j3b7cro2ds1fk@published\" data-word-count=\"46\">The adaptation stars Stenberg, Thuso Mbedu, Viola Davis, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Tosin Cole, Damson Idris, Cynthia Erivo, Lashana Lynch, Idris Elba, and Regina King.
