\n\tIt\u2019s a \u201cTask<\/a>\u201d and \u201cMare of Easttown<\/a>\u201d crossover.<\/p>\n

\n\tJulianne Nicholson<\/a> has joined Season 2 of the HBO detective drama, reprising her Emmy-winning role as Lori Ross, the mother of three children who lives in Easttown.<\/p>\n

\n\tWhile, until now, \u201cTask\u201d was not directly connected to \u201cMare of Easttown,\u201d both series hail from creator and showrunner Brad Ingelsby and take place in the working-class suburbs of Philadelphia. <\/p>\n

\n\tIt\u2019s unclear how, exactly, Nicholson\u2019s character will factor into the storyline of \u201cTask.\u201d The vague Season 2 logline reads as follows: \u201cTom Brandis (Mark Ruffalo) takes the helm of a new task force, but the deeper the operation runs, the harder it is to tell\u00a0who\u2019s\u00a0the target.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tAside from Ruffalo, Nicholson joins previously announced Season 2 cast members Mahershala Ali, Harry Melling, Adam Nagaitis, Aminah Nieves and Edgar Ramirez.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cMare of Easttown\u201d premiered on HBO in 2021 and starred Kate Winslet as Marianne \u201cMare\u201d Sheehan, a police detective investigating the murder of a teenage mother while her own life bursts at the seams. Nicholson played Lori, Mare\u2019s best friend, whose son becomes embroiled in the murder investigation.<\/p>\n

\n\tWinslet and Ingelsby have teased a second season of \u201cMare of Easttown,\u201d which was designed as a miniseries. In 2024, HBO\u2019s drama head Francesca Orsi said there were \u201cearly discussions\u201d about continuing the show, and earlier this year Winslet said about a second season, \u201cI think we probably will do it,\u201d even suggesting it could film in 2027. It remains to be seen what that might look like, or whether Winslet could also enter the world of \u201cTask.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tNicholson is a two-time Emmy winner, whose other award came from her guest starring role as Dance Mom in the HBO comedy \u201cHacks.\u201d She also recently starred in \u201cParadise\u201d as the tech billionaire Sinatra, and as Kate in BBC\u2019s \u201cDope Girls.\u201d Nicholson\u2019s credits also include \u201cWinning Time: Rise of the Laker Dynasty,\u201d \u201cThe Outsider,\u201d \u201cBoardwalk Empire\u201d and the upcoming Brad Pitt movie \u201cThe Riders.\u201d<\/p>\n
