Paula O\u2019Callaghan, who is a singer from Cork, said on social media yesterday evening that she was diagnosed with leukaemia.<\/p>\n

The wife of the famous radio presenter added she\u2019s \u201cready to fight\u201d and \u201cgrateful\u201d for the support from her husband and family.<\/p>\n

“I\u2019ve recently received a diagnosis of leukaemia,\u201d she wrote in a post on X. “While it’s a lot to process, I’m ready to fight and learn more about this journey.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI am so grateful for the love and support of my husband, Gareth O\u2019Callaghan, and my family,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n

The couple met in March 2015 and married in the Cork Registry Office in September 2020.<\/p>\n

The radio presenter and DJ, Gareth O\u2019Callaghan (64), currently hosts Gareth O\u2019Callaghan At The Weekend on Saturdays on Ireland\u2019s Classic Hits Radio.<\/p>\n

The former RT\u00c9 broadcaster, who has three children from his first marriage \u2013 Aibh\u00edn, Kerrie and Katie \u2013 was diagnosed with terminal illness, multiple system atrophy, in 2018.<\/p>\n

The Dubliner, who now lives in Cork with his wife, has previously said of his wife: \u201cTo say that I love her feels almost like an understatement.”<\/p>\n

“It deserves a louder voice because, while the space I inhabit in life slowly grows smaller, Paula has prevented my heart from breaking and from growing tired and joyless.<\/p>\n

“I can honestly say, hand on my heart, she saved my life,\u201d he added at the time.<\/p>\n

Due to his diagnosis, he had retired from his full-time radio career in Classic Hits Radio that same year to focus on his health.<\/p>\n

However, he decided to return to hosting his weekend show in 2022.<\/p>\n

Speaking about the day the couple met, Mr O\u2019Callaghan previously told the Irish Independent: \u201cI knew in my heart that evening that I would spend the rest of my life with her.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen we met eight years ago, neither of us had a clue what lay ahead.
