{"id":578466,"date":"2026-07-10T10:30:33","date_gmt":"2026-07-10T10:30:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/578466\/"},"modified":"2026-07-10T10:30:33","modified_gmt":"2026-07-10T10:30:33","slug":"julianne-nicholson-joins-task-season-2-as-her-mare-of-easttown-character","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/578466\/","title":{"rendered":"Julianne Nicholson Joins &#8216;Task&#8217; Season 2 as Her &#8216;Mare of Easttown&#8217; Character"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tEmmy winner <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/julianne-nicholson\/\" id=\"auto-tag_julianne-nicholson_1\" data-tag=\"julianne-nicholson\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Julianne Nicholson<\/a> is joining the cast of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/hbo\/\" id=\"auto-tag_hbo_1\" data-tag=\"hbo\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">HBO<\/a>\u2018s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/task\/\" id=\"auto-tag_task_1\" data-tag=\"task\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Task<\/a> \u2014\u00a0as a character audiences may already know.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tNicholson will reprise her role as Lori Ross from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/mare-of-easttown\/\" id=\"auto-tag_mare-of-easttown_1\" data-tag=\"mare-of-easttown\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Mare of Easttown<\/a> in season two of Task. Both shows were created by Brad Ingelsby, and both are set in Delaware County, Pennsylvania. Those connections led some people to speculate whether the two shows shared a fictional world, which Nicholson\u2019s casting now confirms.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tIngelsby, for his part, has been open to the idea of the two shows crossing paths: \u201cThey exist in the same world, so it wouldn\u2019t surprise me one bit if Mare [Kate Winslet] walked into a Wawa that Tom [Task star Mark Ruffalo] was in,\u201d he <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/tv\/tv-features\/task-mare-of-easttown-potential-crossover-1236364099\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">told The Hollywood Reporter<\/a> before Task\u2019s premiere in September 2025. \u201cI don\u2019t have a story in mind that\u2019s a crossover, but I love the idea of their worlds intersecting.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tHow Lori figures into Task is being kept quiet for the time being. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/tv\/tv-news\/mare-of-easttown-finale-spoilers-1234960836\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Mare of Easttown ended<\/a> with (five-year-old spoiler alert) Mare, the police detective played by Winslet, arresting her best friend Lori\u2019s son for the killing of a teenage girl and the two women looking for a way to repair their relationship.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tSeason two of Task will follow Ruffalo\u2019s FBI agent, Tom Brandis, as he takes the helm of a new task force. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/tv\/tv-news\/mahershala-ali-task-season-2-hbo-1236544809\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Mahershala Ali<\/a>, Harry Melling, Adam Nagaitis, Aminah Nieves and Edgar Ramirez also star.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tNicholson won the first of her two Emmy Awards for her Mare of Easttown role (the second was for Hacks last year). She currently stars in Hulu\u2019s Paradise; other credits include HBO\u2019s The Outsider and Boardwalk Empire and Law &amp; Order: Criminal Intent.
