After its record-breaking opening<\/a> in late May,\u00a0Backrooms<\/a> is still racking up ticket sales<\/a> at theaters worldwide. Starting next week, it will look to add digital domination to its list of accomplishments, with a home release for audiences to rent or buy starting Tuesday, July 14.<\/p>\n

\u201cA strange doorway appears in the basement of a furniture showroom\u201d is the film\u2019s tantalizingly obscure official description, and Backrooms also has some other notable facts buoying its interest. It stars Oscar nominees Chiwetel Ejiofor and Renate Reinsve (along with Mark Duplass, Finn Bennett, and Lukita Maxwell), and it was directed by Kane Parsons, expanding on his wildly popular YouTube series of the same name.<\/p>\n

The fact that Parsons just turned 21 in June only adds to the curiosity factor\u2014not to mention Backrooms\u2018 tandem triumph with 2026\u2019s other horror juggernaut, Curry Barker\u2019s Obsession, which also has its roots in YouTube-nurtured creativity.<\/p>\n

Obsession got its home release in late June<\/a>, so that means starting next week, you can double-stack Hollywood\u2019s biggest recent success stories. Obsession\u2018s physical release also arrives July 14, with special features including Barker\u2019s director commentary; no doubt Backrooms will have a physical release coming too\u2014presumably including those extra 15 minutes<\/a> that were recently added to the theatrical release\u2014though there\u2019s no date set for that yet.<\/p>\n
