Nina Dobrev<\/strong><\/a> and Shaun White<\/a><\/strong> will always have summer. <\/p>\n

Ahead of the Vampire Diaries alum and Olympian\u2019s breakup following five years together<\/a> and a one-year engagement Sept. 11, they shared a glimpse into the final sweet moments as a pair just weeks prior. <\/p>\n

In a collection of photos Nina, 36, shared to Instagram Sept. 5, she included a carousel of summer highlights, including some moments with Shaun. One photo sees the couple lying in bed, as Nina poses in a selfie where she wears a vegetable pajama set and a face mask, as Shaun, 39, looks over at her. <\/p>\n

Another photo sees the couple enjoying summer outside, with them squeezed together on a lounge chair, with Nina wearing a black one-piece and shades, as Shaun poses in sunnies of his own and swim trunks. Adding to the sunny energy in the moment, Nina cheekily sticks out her tongue and holds up an Aperol Spritz. <\/p>\n

The final photo of Nina and Shaun included in the slideshow also sees them soaking up the sun on a yacht, with each wearing shades as they lie close together, a brilliant blue sky behind them. <\/p>\n

And in an earlier post from Aug. 19, the Degrassi alum also proved the former couple were enjoying nights out together. Alongside a collection of photos including one of her and Shaun dressed up at a bar, she wrote, \u201cA little of this and that.\u201d <\/p>\n

Later in the post, the couple also prove jet-setting was on their summer itinerary, with them posing in sweats alongside their luggage in front of an aircraft. <\/p>\n

On July 1, Nina also proved the couple was going strong by sharing a photo of them dressed to the nines in front of a pool in Spain, with Shaun\u2019s arms wrapped around her as he planted a kiss on her cheek. For his part, Shaun also shared highlights from this trip on his own profile, marking his final time sharing his former fianc\u00e9e to his Instagram grid. <\/p>\n

Nina and Shaun also celebrated their friends\u2019 love together this summer. In June, she shared highlights from their attendance at Michael Trevino <\/strong>and Bregje Heinen Trevino<\/strong>\u2019s nuptials in Barcelona. Alongside photos with the newly married couple and other friends, Nina included photos of her and Shaun looking especially loved up. In one moment, the couple share a sweet kiss as they hold parasols over their heads during the wedding ceremony. <\/p>\n

Despite their sweet final moments as a couple, the sun has set on Nina and Shaun\u2019s time together. Earlier this month, Nina attended the premiere of Eternity Sept. 7 at Toronto International Film Festival solo\u2014and without her engagement ring. <\/p>\n

Just days later, E! News learned the pair had broken up. <\/p>\n

As for why, a source told People<\/a>, \u201cIt was a mutual decision, and wasn\u2019t an easy one, but it was made with love and a deep respect for one another.\u201d<\/p>\n

Dobrev and White hit it off after they partied together with friends, including her Vampire Diaries co-stars Kayla Ewell<\/strong> and Candice Accola King<\/strong>, at the opening of the Bellagio Resort & Casino’s new supper club The Mayfair in Las Vegas on New Year’s Eve.<\/p>\n

A year later, amid the coronavirus pandemic, Dobrev would share this photo of her and White at the bash, as well as a video of him lifting her up Dirty Dancing-style only to have them both topple into the snow. She wrote<\/a>, “How we thought 2020 would go…how it actually went.”<\/p>\n

March 2020: Romantic Bike Ride\"March<\/p>\n

Dobrev and White spark romance rumors<\/a> after they are spotted riding bikes together in Malibu, Calif. A source tells E! News that the two began to “ease into a relationship<\/a>” after spending New Year’s Eve together, adding that things “really accelerated” between the two after the coronavirus pandemic broke out.<\/p>\n

“After spending weeks together during quarantine,” the source says, “Nina and Shaun have made it clear to their friends that they are a serious couple.”<\/p>\n

May 2020: Snip Snip\"May<\/p>\n

The two make their relationship Instagram<\/a> official when both share a photo of the actress trimming White’s red hair. Most hair salons closed due to COVID-19 restrictions. Under her post, Dobrev writes, “Adding to resume: hairdresser.”<\/p>\n

Judging from their Instagrams, Dobrev and White vacationed together in the Zion National Park area in Utah twice in 2020, in May and in December.<\/p>\n

Just before New Year’s Eve, another source tells E! News<\/a> that the two “are genuinely so in love.”<\/p>\n

“They openly talk about their future together,” the insider continued. “They’re just super happy, and things are going really well with them.”<\/p>\n

Dobrev celebrated a “redo” of her 31st birthday on her 32rd and White paid tribute to her with photos of the two sporting these looks.<\/p>\n

Alonside pal Adam DeVine<\/strong>, the couple dressed up as characters from The Queen’s Gambit for Halloween with White going as as the iconic Beth Harmon and Dobrev channelling U.S. chess champion, Benny Watts.<\/p>\n
