&#8211; Limerick council re-enters legal proceedings over &#8216;illegal&#8217; caravan"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>LEGAL proceedings against the occupants of a caravan which is illegally parked just off a main thoroughfare in Limerick city have been reinstated by the local authority.<\/p>\n<p>Calvin Moran and Victoria Faulkner are accused of breaching the terms of an <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.limerickleader.ie\/section\/463\/crime-court\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">enforcement notice<\/a><\/strong> which was served on them more than a year ago.<\/p>\n<p>That notice, dating back to August 2024, required them to move their caravan away from Alandale Road which is located just off Dock Road.<\/p>\n<p>At Limerick District Court this Thursday, solicitor Will Leahy, said the proceedings were adjourned in April of this year after Mr Moran and Ms Faulkner &#8220;moved&#8221; from the location but that they &#8220;appeared again over the summer&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>He told Judge Patricia Harney the matter was formally re-entered late last week and that representatives of Limerick City and County Council had hand-delivered a letter informing the defendants of the court date.<\/p>\n<p><strong>READ NEXT:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.limerickleader.ie\/news\/environment\/1890878\/former-limerick-senior-hurling-manager-reported-to-gardai-amid-council-protest.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Former Limerick senior hurling manager reported to gardai amid council protest<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Solicitor Tom Kiely confirmed he had spoken to his clients about the matter. &#8220;I have advised them they need to move,&#8221; he said adding: &#8220;They have assured me they will move.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Neither of the defendants were present in court for this Thursday&#8217;s brief hearing during which Mr Leahy emphasised that the local authority is anxious to resolve matters as quickly as possible.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We want them gone,&#8221; he stated.<\/p>\n<p>Adjourning the matter for a week, Judge Harney said she expects progress to have been made noting that Mr Moran and Ms Faulkner &#8220;have been over this before&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>The penalties for those convicted of failing to comply with an enforcement notice include a fine of up to \u20ac5,000 and\/or a prison sentence of up to six months.<\/p>\n<p>ADVERTISEMENT &#8211;
