The cloud\u2019s negative charge repels negative charge deeper into the Earth, leaving Earth\u2019s surface positively charged. The<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=MsINeZMeTMQ\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">opposite charges attract<\/a>,<br \/>\nreaching towards each other and superheating the air into a white strike of<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=E3T2ldsdtMg\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">plasma<\/a>.<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/apod.nasa.gov\/apod\/ap231002.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Red sprites<\/a><br \/>\nare<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/apod.nasa.gov\/apod\/ap210104.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">millisecond events<\/a> triggered by<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.noaa.gov\/jetstream\/lightning\/positive-and-negative-side-of-lightning\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">positive cloud-to-ground<\/a><br \/>\nlightning.
