{"id":587303,"date":"2026-07-15T17:54:12","date_gmt":"2026-07-15T17:54:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/587303\/"},"modified":"2026-07-15T17:54:12","modified_gmt":"2026-07-15T17:54:12","slug":"hack-suggests-ai-music-generator-suno-scraped-youtube-for-training-data","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/587303\/","title":{"rendered":"Hack suggests AI music generator Suno scraped YouTube for training data"},"content":{"rendered":"<p id=\"speakable-summary\" class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The AI music generator Suno was hacked, according to a report from <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.404media.co\/hack-reveals-suno-ai-music-generator-scraped-youtube-deezer-and-genius\/\" target=\"_blank\">404 Media<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The hacker told the publication that they used a supply chain attack to access an employee\u2019s credentials, allowing them to then access source code showing how Suno allegedly scraped decades of audio from YouTube Music, Deezer, Genius, stock music libraries, and podcast RSS feeds.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Suno previously <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/help.suno.com\/en\/articles\/9709569?ref=404media.co\" target=\"_blank\">admitted<\/a> that it trains its AI on \u201cpublicly available music files\u201d on the open internet, arguing that it can train on copyrighted material under the fair use doctrine, a subjective carve out of copyright law. But according to the major record labels actively <a href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2026\/06\/03\/still-facing-copyright-lawsuits-ai-music-generator-suno-raises-another-400m\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">suing<\/a> Suno, it is <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/news\/782448\/riaa-suno-ai-lawsuit-update-stream-ripping-youtube?ref=404media.co\" target=\"_blank\">illegal<\/a> under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) to deliberately circumvent YouTube\u2019s protections against data scraping; it also violates YouTube\u2019s terms of service.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.musicbusinessworldwide.com\/udio-admits-to-scraping-youtube-audio-for-ai-training-in-answer-to-sony-music-lawsuit\/\" target=\"_blank\">Udio<\/a>, a competitor to Suno, has also been accused of scraping YouTube data. Google, the parent company of YouTube, faces similar allegations of <a href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2026\/07\/14\/google-faces-another-ai-training-lawsuit-from-major-publishers\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">copyright infringement<\/a> from a variety of major book publishers.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The hacker reportedly accessed customer data including <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/bsky.app\/profile\/jasonkoebler.bsky.social\/post\/3mqovexnuj22h\" target=\"_blank\">customer emails, phone numbers<\/a>, and partial credit card numbers in Stripe. <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Suno did not notify customers about the November 2025 breach and claims that this was a \u201climited security incident that was quickly contained.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"The AI music generator Suno was hacked, according to a report from 404 Media.
