Yesterday was Wordle Wednesday and I presented you with this puzzle to solve:<\/p>\n
You are Odysseus and you encounter the fearsome Cyclops. The Cyclops has a slow and terrible death planned for you, but wants you to guess which. He says, \u201cI will either grill you or boil you. If you\u2019re right, I will grill you. If you\u2019re wrong, I will boil you.\u201d<\/p>\n
What do you, Odysseus, reply with in order to get out of this fiery predicament?<\/p>\n
\u201cYou will boil me.\u201d<\/p>\n
Here\u2019s why:<\/p>\n
If he boils me<\/strong> \u2014 then my guess was correct (I said “boil,” and boil is what happened). But his rule says a correct guess earns grilling, not boiling. But his rule says a wrong guess earns boiling, not grilling. So grilling me also breaks his own rule.<\/p>\n Therefore, the Cyclops cannot do either to me or, rather, to you Odysseus, and must eat you raw. Just kidding!
