\n\tAriana Grande<\/a> surprised the Barclays Center crowd on Thursday night (July 16) when she brought out<\/a> Ty Dolla $ign<\/a> as a special guest to perform their \u201cSafety Net\u201d collaboration.<\/p>\n

\n\tThursday served as night three of the pop star\u2019s five-show Brooklyn residency on the Eternal Sunshine Tour.<\/a> \u201cSafety Net,\u201d which landed on Ari\u2019s Positions album in 2020, has been a staple of act III on the setlist, but Ty\u2019s appearance in BK was a first on the trek.<\/a><\/p>\n

\n\tWearing black leather pants and a matching jacket, Dolla $ign emerged<\/a> from a door of the house set on stage, drawing a raucous ovation from the crowd. \u201cTripping, falling, with no safety net,\u201d they duet on the soothing chorus.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe R&B singer gave Grande her flowers before leaving the stage. \u201cThe queen, Ari,\u201d he shouted. \u201cLove you, thank you!\u201d The Grammy-winning superstar continued the show with one of her defining anthems, \u201cOne Last Time.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tBefore wrapping up, Grande declared night three in Brooklyn to be the loudest audience<\/a> she\u2019s had on the tour so far. She\u2019ll return to the stage for shows on Saturday (July 18) and Sunday night (July 19) at Barclays Center.<\/p>\n

\n\tGrande explained the origins of the collab during a 2020 interview on the Zach Sang Show<\/a>, during which she revealed that it started with Ty pulling up to a studio session.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cHe walked in and loved what he was hearing, and I was like, \u2018Well, this is a perfect time and place for us to do something together.\u2019 And I always wanted to; I\u2019m a big fan and he\u2019s a great guy, so it just happened to work out,\u201d she stated. \u201cI think he just kind of sat down and loved what he was hearing and was like, \u2018Let\u2019s do this together.\u2019 And I was like, \u2018Yeah, that\u2019s great!’\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cSafety Net\u201d marked the pop supernova\u2019s first collaboration with Ty Dolla $ign. The track debuted at No. 52 on the Billboard Hot 100<\/a> following Positions\u2018 arrival in October 2020.<\/p>\n
