Casualty has confirmed the fate of popular character Dylan Keogh after a dramatic episode including a horrific car crash. The recovering alcoholic has pushed his loved ones away after his recent relapse<\/a>, including his son Matty Linlaker. <\/p>\n

When Dylan left work early at the end of the previous episode, Matty told Stevie that he was drinking again. Stevie rushed to her estranged friend’s houseboat, but was told that he had left earlier \u2013 and viewers then saw Dylan behind the wheel<\/a>, driving erratically.<\/p>\n

In today’s episode<\/a>, Dylan is parked outside a building, drinking from a clear bottle. The building is revealed to be a care home, with Dylan being there to confront his own alcoholic father, Brian.<\/p>\n

Dylan has some choice words for his dad, and says he is the reason that he’ll never be a good father to Matty. But he soon realises that Brian doesn’t even recognise him, as a result of a worsening brain condition caused by his years of drinking.<\/p>\n

Things get worse when Dylan attempts to explain who he is, and Brian remarks that his son was a runt who he never loved or cared about. Brian then breaks down as he realises that his wife was dead.<\/p>\n

Hurt by this interaction, Dylan rushes out of the care home. While swigging from his bottle and driving dangerously down a country lane, Dylan leaves an emotional voicemail for Matty, telling his son that he’s not like his own dad and that he cares about him.<\/p>\n

Matty and Stevie later listen to the voicemail together, but are shocked to hear a crash at the end. Their worries are confirmed when it becomes clear that Dylan has been involved in a three-vehicle collision<\/a>, where he has sustained injuries to his spine, neck and head.<\/p>\n

However, when the ambulances arrive, it is revealed that the injured man wasn’t Dylan after all, and he instead had his jacket. Matty is relieved to find his dad uninjured, but after finding out about his relapse, Flynn confronts him about drink driving.<\/p>\n

Dylan denies that he had drunk alcohol since his initial relapse, and it is confirmed that he is telling the truth when Stevie realises another patient accidentally caused the crash. Furthermore, Dylan’s breathalyser test comes back clear.<\/p>\n

As Dylan gets back to work, he and Matty clash over Matty’s refusal to stop compressions on a patient who was never going to survive, leading to a difficult conversation with the distraught family.<\/p>\n

The pair share a tricky conversation, but realising how much he scared his son, Dylan apologises for everything and pledges to do whatever it takes to tackle his addiction, including AA meetings and therapy.<\/p>\n

As the father-and-son hug, will this mark a turning point for their relationship?<\/p>\n
