Alibaba Group Holding has previewed its next-generation artificial intelligence model Qwen3.8, which the company says is \u201csecond only\u201d to Anthropic\u2019s Claude Fable 5<\/a>.Qwen3.8-Max-Preview, the preview version of the strongest model of the Qwen family, had been made available on Alibaba\u2019s Token Plan subscription service, as well as its Qoder and QoderWork<\/a> agentic platforms, the Chinese tech giant said on an official X post on Sunday.<\/p>\n

With 2.4 trillion parameters, it was \u201cone of the most powerful models available today, comparable to leading frontier AI models, second only to Fable 5\u201d, Alibaba said on the post, referring to Anthropic\u2019s most capable widely released model to date.<\/p>\n

Parameters are a machine-learning measure of AI system complexity, with higher figures generally indicating stronger models.<\/p>\n
