\n\tPioneering AI<\/a>-generated feature-length documentary \u201cPost Truth,\u201d which got a theatrical release across Turkey<\/a> this summer, is set to launch internationally from the\u00a0upcoming Warsaw Film Festival<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe English-language work is directed by generative AI artist Alkan Avc\u0131o\u011flu, who created \u201cPost Truth\u201d entirely using artificial intelligence including all visuals, sound, music and voice. The doc, which delves into man\u2019s relationship with technology, was co-written by the director with multidisciplinary artist Vikki Bardot.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cPost Truth\u201d draws inspiration from the large-scale cinematic vision of Godfrey Reggio (\u201cKoyaanisqatsi\u201d) and references filmmakers such as Andrej Tarkovskij, Jean-Luc Godard and Leos Carax. \u201cIt has a self-reflexive critical tone, focusing on how technological thinking led the world to an era where facts don\u2019t matter anymore,\u201d according to promotional materials.<\/p>\n

\n\tTurkish arthouse distributor Ba\u015fka Sinema released \u201cPost Truth\u201d in Turkish cinemas across some 20 cities in July, eliciting positive reviews from local critics.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cArtificial intelligence is entering the world of cinema more and more boldly \u2014 often supporting human work in hidden ways, sometimes even replacing it,\u201d said Warsaw Film Festival programming director Bartek Pulcyn in a statement. \u201c\u2018Post Trut\u2019h uses AI openly to ask fundamental questions about the present and the future of the world and humanity.\u201d The fest runs Oct. 10-19.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201c\u2018Post Truth\u2019 is not a cheap trick showcasing AI or a gimmick, but a conceptual, in-depth exploration of the boundaries of what a documentary can be,\u201d Avc\u0131o\u011flu noted.<\/p>\n

\n\tAvc\u0131o\u011flu worked as a film critic before veering into film acquisitions. He left the film industry in 2022 to explore AI storytelling and has since emerged as an AI visual artist with pieces on display at major art fairs, including Paris Photo and Art Basel Miami. His work has also been auctioned at Christie\u2019s.
