{"id":595626,"date":"2026-07-20T20:42:16","date_gmt":"2026-07-20T20:42:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/595626\/"},"modified":"2026-07-20T20:42:16","modified_gmt":"2026-07-20T20:42:16","slug":"eli-lilly-seeks-planning-for-360-space-car-park-at-its-cork-plant","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/595626\/","title":{"rendered":"Eli Lilly seeks planning for 360 space car park at its Cork plant\u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"contextmenu internal_Body1st\">Consultants for the maker of blockbuster weight loss drugs, Eli Lilly, have cited health and safety concerns at the firm\u2019s expanding\u00a0<a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.echolive.ie\/corknews\/arid-41879968.html\">Kinsale<\/a> plant for the need for a temporary 360 space car park.<\/p>\n<p class=\"contextmenu Body Body\">Planning documents lodged with\u00a0<a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.echolive.ie\/corknews\/arid-41880517.html\">Cork County Council<\/a> state that the Lilly Kinsale plant produces five of Lilly\u2019s top eight medicines globally, \u201cshowing how important the site is to their global operations\u201d.<\/p>\n<p class=\"contextmenu Body Body\">Lilly Kinsale is the company\u2019s biggest manufacturing facility outside the US and a planning report lodged with the temporary car park application states that over the past five years, Eli Lilly has secured permission for a wide range of developments at Kinsale and these projects reflect a sustained period of expansion and modernisation across the pharmaceutical campus, with many involving construction activity, increased staffing, and logistical complexity.<\/p>\n<p class=\"contextmenu caption\">Increased volume of personnel<\/p>\n<p class=\"contextmenu Body Body\">Planners said the Eli Lilly return-to-office policy came into effect in mid-2025 and together with the construction traffic is leading to an increased volume of personnel on site. It warned that \u201cthis is leading to cars parking on footpaths and edges of car-park access roads. This presents a health and safety issue to the site\u201d.<\/p>\n<p class=\"contextmenu Body Body\">The ARUP planning report cautions that \u201cwithout additional temporary parking, issues such as congestion, parking shortages, and knock on disruption to the surrounding road network and community amenities could occur\u201d.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"contextmenu Body Body\">The report states that the Eli Lilly Kinsale site \u201cis located in close proximity to Dunderrow village, which would most likely be used as an alternative parking solution without the proposed development\u201d.<\/p>\n<p class=\"contextmenu Body Body\">Planners said the current average personnel number on site per day is 1,920 while the current number of car parking spaces on site is 1,654.
