{"id":59689,"date":"2025-09-12T14:45:07","date_gmt":"2025-09-12T14:45:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/59689\/"},"modified":"2025-09-12T14:45:07","modified_gmt":"2025-09-12T14:45:07","slug":"man-appears-in-court-accused-of-slashing-mans-face-with-knife-in-tralee-town-centre","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/59689\/","title":{"rendered":"Man appears in court accused of slashing man\u2019s face with knife in Tralee town centre"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A man has appeared in court accused of slashing another man\u2019s face with a knife in Tralee.<\/p>\n<p>36-year-old David Tyler, with an address of 11 Harbour View, Portmagee,\u00a0was refused bail at a sitting of Listowel District Court this morning by Judge John King.<\/p>\n<p>He faces two charges arising from one incident in Tralee this week.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Tyler is accused of striking another man in the face with a cutlery knife at Bridge Street in Tralee town centre on Wednesday, causing a laceration to the man\u2019s chin.<\/p>\n<p>He is charged with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishstatutebook.ie\/eli\/1997\/act\/26\/section\/3\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">assault causing harm<\/a>, and production of a knife in the course of a fight.<\/p>\n<p>He appeared before Judge John King in Listowel District Court this morning, where evidence of arrest, charge and caution was provided by Garda John Coffey.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.radiokerry.ie\/news\/solicitor-eimear-griffin\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Solicitor Eimear Griffin<\/a> from the office of P\u00e1draig O\u2019Connell, applied for bail for Mr Tyler, but the state objected.<\/p>\n<p>Ms Griffin said her client is engaging in mental health and addiction services and would adhere to any bail conditions to continue to engage with both.<\/p>\n<p>Bail was refused on the seriousness of the alleged offending, and the risk of further offending.<\/p>\n<p>Legal aid was granted.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Tyler was remanded in custody to appear again at Tralee District Court next Wednesday, September 17th.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"A man has appeared in court accused of slashing another man\u2019s face with a knife in Tralee. 36-year-old&hellip;\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":59690,"comment_status":"","ping_status":"","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[76],"tags":[18,42854,19,17,132],"class_list":{"0":"post-59689","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-sports","8":"tag-eire","9":"tag-face","10":"tag-ie","11":"tag-ireland","12":"tag-sports"},"share_on_mastodon":{"url":"","error":""},"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/59689","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/2"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=59689"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/59689\/revisions"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/59690"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=59689"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=59689"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=59689"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
