\n\tEXCLUSIVE:<\/strong>\u00a0In the first development on FX<\/a>\u2018s Sh\u014dgun<\/a> in months, we can tell you that Rick Kumazawa<\/a> (Grey\u2019s Anatomy,\u00a0You) is set for a recurring role in the Emmy-winning drama\u2019s second season.<\/p>\n

\n\tKumazawa is playing Gaspar; no further character details have been disclosed.<\/p>\n

\n\tOther previously announced newcomers to\u00a0Sh\u014dgun\u00a0in Season 2 include Asami Mizukawa, Masataka Kubota, Sho Kaneta, Takaaki Enoki, Jun Kunimura, Ren Meguro, Risei Kukihara, Ry\u00f4 Sat\u00f4, Seishiro Nishida, Mantaro Koichi and Takashi Yamaguchi.<\/p>\n

\n\tEmmy winner Hiroyuki Sanada and Cosmo Jarvis will return from Season 1, along with Fumi Nikaid\u00f4, Shinnosuke Abe, Hiroto Kanai, Yoriko D\u00f4guchi, Tommy Bastow, Yuko Miyamoto, Eita Okuno and Yuka Kouri.<\/p>\n

\n\tProduction on the new season kicked off in Vancouver earlier this year.<\/p>\n

\n\tAdapting James Clavell\u2019s bestselling novel,\u00a0Sh\u014dgun\u2018s first season watched as Lord Yoshii Toranaga (Sanada) fought for his survival as his enemies in the Council of Regents united against him. When a mysterious European ship was found marooned in a nearby village, its English pilot John Blackthorne (Jarvis) shared vital strategic secrets with Toranaga that tipped the scales of power in his favor to win a century-defining civil war.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe TV adaptation hails from creators Rachel Kondo & Justin Marks and is produced by FX Productions. Kondo and Marks are joined as executive producers by Michaela Clavell, Edward L. McDonnell, Michael De Luca and Sanada. Season 2 casting has been handled by Kei Kawamura and Laura Schiff, whose work on the first season won them one of the show\u2019s 18 Emmys, as the show became FX\u2019s first to win Outstanding Drama Series.<\/p>\n

\n\tSeason 2 of\u00a0Sh\u014dgun\u00a0will stream on Hulu in the U.S. and Disney+ internationally and air on the FX channel.<\/p>\n

\n\tKumazawa is a Japanese-American actor whose television credits include recurring roles on\u00a0Grey\u2019s Anatomy, Netflix\u2019s\u00a0You\u00a0and\u00a0While You Were Breeding, a guest star role on\u00a0S.W.A.T., and appearances on\u00a0Grown-ish,\u00a0Veep\u00a0and\u00a0Animal Kingdom. His voice work includes\u00a0Assassin\u2019s Creed Shadows,\u00a0Rise of the Ronin\u00a0and\u00a0WWE 2K25.
