\n\tThe Odyssey<\/a>\u2019s box office journey<\/a> is not slowing down.<\/p>\n

\n\tAfter notching $123.5 million domestically and launching to $263.7 million last weekend, the Christopher Nolan epic<\/a> is expected to bring in another $84.5 million at the domestic box office<\/a>. That would be a decline of just 32 percent, an extremely good hold for a blockbuster.<\/p>\n

\n\tNo new wide release braved the waters this weekend, with studios preferring to stay out of the wake of Universal<\/a> and Nolan, the undisputed name-brand filmmaker working today. Next weekend, juggernaut Spider-Man: Brand New Day, starring The Odyssey castmembers and married couple Tom Holland and Zendaya<\/a>, arrives from Sony and Marvel.<\/p>\n

\n\tIn a summer in which the Gen Z filmmakers behind Obsession<\/a> and Backrooms have become the breakout story, Nolan is an establishment player who has managed to capture the attention of younger audiences<\/a>. Half the opening weekend\u2019s audience was between the ages of 18 and 34. The film has amassed $322 million globally.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe film has also been massive on Imax and other premium format screens, with Imax accounting for 23 percent of its haul on opening weekend. It is the first narrative feature shot entirely on Imax cameras.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe film also delves into horror with several sequences, with Nolan telling The Hollywood Reporter<\/a> the movie \u201cvery much whets my appetite for more\u201d of the genre. The filmmaker, who has praised both Obsession and Backrooms, went on to say: \u201cYou have to have an amazing idea. When you go see a film like\u00a0Obsession, that\u2019s an amazing idea.
