New detailed images from the Antarctic reveal a merge of science and serendipity, as a figure most similar to a hummingbird was captured on the icy surface.<\/p>\n

“Despite its otherworldly quality, the Antarctic image shows a very real geographical feature called Nunatak Zaterjavshijsja, a mountaintop in East Antarctica, poking out amid a stream of ice flowing northeast to the ocean<\/a>,” NASA said.<\/p>\n

As the glacier continues to move, the mountain\u2019s topography puts stress on the ice, fracturing it into deep cracks called crevasses, which appear as green lines in the image, according to NASA.<\/p>\n
