{"id":606901,"date":"2026-07-27T18:42:12","date_gmt":"2026-07-27T18:42:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/606901\/"},"modified":"2026-07-27T18:42:12","modified_gmt":"2026-07-27T18:42:12","slug":"fx-20th-tv-land-nj-set-wildwood-comedy-from-derry-girls-creator","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/606901\/","title":{"rendered":"FX &#038; 20th TV Land NJ-Set &#8216;Wildwood&#8217; Comedy From &#8216;Derry Girls&#8217; Creator"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\t<strong>EXCLUSIVE<\/strong>: In a very competitive situation, <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/20th-television\/\" id=\"auto-tag_20th-television\" data-tag=\"20th-television\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">20th Television<\/a> an <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/fx\/\" id=\"auto-tag_fx\" data-tag=\"fx\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">FX<\/a> have won <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/wildwood\/\" id=\"auto-tag_wildwood\" data-tag=\"wildwood\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Wildwood<\/a>, the latest project from BAFTA Award-winning <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/derry-girls\/\" id=\"auto-tag_derry-girls\" data-tag=\"derry-girls\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Derry Girls<\/a> creator <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/lisa-mcgee\/\" id=\"auto-tag_lisa-mcgee\" data-tag=\"lisa-mcgee\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Lisa McGee<\/a> \u2014 and her first set outside of the UK.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tA spiritual successor to Derry Girls, which is about a group of teen Irish schoolgirls in the mid-1990s, Wildwood is set in the summer of 2000 and follows a group of Irish college girls who descend on the neon playground that is Wildwood, New Jersey. They\u2019ve no money, no visas, no plan, no clue.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tThe comedy has been put into development, with McGee as creator and executive producer.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tMcGee has been on Carolyn Cassidy\u2019s wish list of creators to work with for awhile, and 20th Television\u2019s EVP of Development is credited with pursuing the Irish TV writer-playwright and helping get Wildwood for the studio, with FX as the network partner.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tMcGee\u2019s semi-autobiographical 2018 series Derry Girls marked Channel 4\u2019s biggest comedy launch since 2004. It ran for three seasons and scored Best Comedy wins at the BAFTAs, International Emmys and the Irish Film and Television Awards.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tAdditionally, McGee curated and wrote an episode of the 2022 BBC anthology series Skint and created\/co-created The Deceived for Channel 5, London Rush for Channel 4, Raw for Ireland\u2019s RT\u00c9, and most recently, How To Get To Heaven From Belfast, which launched on Netflix in February.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tMcGee has written episodes of C4\u2019s Indian Summers, BBC1\/Starz\u2019s The White Queen and BBC3\u2019s BAFTA-winning Being Human. Her plays include Jump!, which was adapted as a 2012 movie, and Girls and Dolls, a Stewart Parker Award Winner.
