Portuguese football star\u00a0Cristiano Ronaldo is set to make his television drama debut as both an executive producer and cast member in\u00a0\u201cDay Is\u201d, a new series centred on British football.<\/p>\n
The project marks Ronaldo\u2019s first major move into scripted television following his success on the pitch and his expanding business ventures off it. He will star alongside former Arsenal and France striker\u00a0Thierry Henry, while British actor\u00a0Damian Lewis leads the cast as\u00a0Stanley Dalton, a fictional elite football agent.<\/p>\n
The series is being produced by\u00a0UR\u2022Marv Studios, the production company Ronaldo co-founded with British filmmaker\u00a0Matthew Vaughn, known for directing the\u00a0\u201cKingsman\u201d and\u00a0\u201cKick-Ass\u201d franchises.<\/p>\n
Announcing the project, Ronaldo described it as \u201can exciting chapter\u201d in his career beyond football.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis is an exciting chapter for me, as I look ahead to new ventures,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Vaughn previously said UR\u2022Marv Studios was established to challenge conventional approaches to film and television production.<\/p>\n
\u201cCristiano has created stories on the pitch that I could never have written, and I look forward to creating inspiring movies with him,\u201d Vaughn told ESPN.<\/p>\n
According to\u00a0The Sun, filming is already underway at\u00a0Barnet FC\u2019s stadium in north-west London, where Henry was recently spotted on set.<\/p>\n
The publication reported that the series also features rapper\u00a0Dave, newcomer\u00a0Carlotta Banat, and Damian Lewis, who plays the lead role.<\/p>\n
Created by football agent\u00a0Darren Dein, who also serves as an executive producer,\u00a0\u201cDay Is\u201d follows the world of elite football through the perspective of a powerful agent. Dein also represents Henry.<\/p>\n
According to\u00a0The Sun, the drama aims to offer a more realistic portrayal of the modern football industry than series such as\u00a0\u201cTed Lasso\u201d. The newspaper also reported that the project is expected to attract strong interest from major streaming platforms.<\/p>\n
The series is the latest addition to Ronaldo\u2019s growing portfolio beyond football. While continuing to captain\u00a0Al-Nassr and the\u00a0Portugal national team, the five-time Ballon d\u2019Or winner has expanded into media and entertainment through UR\u2022Marv Studios.<\/p>\n
