We thought it was a One Wish Willow,<\/a> but maybe there\u2019s a second one in there. After wowing audiences with his horrifyingly layered performance<\/a> in the surprise hit, Obsession<\/a>, Michael Johnston is about to go on the adventure of a lifetime. He\u2019s in talks to star alongside Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz in the new Mummy film from Radio Silence.<\/p>\n

The InSneider<\/a>, who first reported the news, didn\u2019t mention who Johnston will play but, at 30 years old, he sure seems just about the right age to potentially play Alex, the son of Rick O\u2019Connell (Fraser) and Evy Carnahan (Weisz). That\u2019s purely speculative, though. Maybe he\u2019s the film\u2019s villain or someone else entirely. It\u2019s unclear. But the Alex character was 8 in the 2001 sequel, The Mummy Returns, so assuming everyone is going to age in real time, it\u2019s certainly in the ballpark of all involved.<\/p>\n

Those also include the film\u2019s directors, Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, its writer David Coggeshall, and John Hannah, who\u2019ll return as Evy\u2019s brother, Jonathan. The film, which doesn\u2019t yet have an official title, will ignore the events of the third film in the franchise, The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor, which recast Evy. And that\u2019s about all we know about it.<\/p>\n

Starring in a movie like Obsession is a huge deal, though, and you can see that Johnston took his time to line up his next film with care. The new Mummy\u00a0is certainly befitting of a follow-up. Of course, Johnston\u2019s excellent performance almost pales in comparison to his Obsession co-star, Inde Navarrette, who has yet to line up a follow-up project. However, you can bet she has her pick of basically anything out there, and we can\u2019t wait to see it. Hey, maybe she can play something in this film!<\/p>\n
