\n\tAmerican Summer<\/a> is heading to theaters at just the right time.<\/p>\n

\n\tBlue Harbor Entertainment\u00a0has acquired U.S. distribution rights to writer-director Michael W. Gray\u2019s family comedy American Summer and will release it theatrically on Sept. 4, The Hollywood Reporter has learned. Steve Guttenberg<\/a> (Police Academy) and Christie Brinkley<\/a> (National Lampoon\u2019s Vacation) star in the coming-of-age indie film<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\n\tAmerican Summer centers on Mikey (Guttenberg) as he reflects on a standout summer from growing up, when he met a special girl, made the travel baseball team and navigated the uncertainty of his dad going missing overseas while with the U.S. Army. <\/p>\n

\n\tThe cast includes Dan Lauria (The Wonder Years), Logan Gray (Surfside Girls), Mia Talerico (Good Luck Charlie), Cullen Moss (Outer Banks), Erinn Ruth (Billions), Maximus Virgili and Major League Baseball<\/a> legends Lee Mazzilli and Luis Sojo.<\/p>\n

\n\tGray helmed the movie from a script he wrote, with additional writing by Jennifer B. White and Marc Prey.\u00a0Gray, Michael Cuomo and Ann M. Gray serve as producers. The trailer<\/a> can be seen below.<\/p>\n
