{"id":613595,"date":"2026-07-31T15:02:26","date_gmt":"2026-07-31T15:02:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/613595\/"},"modified":"2026-07-31T15:02:26","modified_gmt":"2026-07-31T15:02:26","slug":"ian-brady-appointed-chief-executive-of-financial-planner-fairstone-the-irish-times","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/613595\/","title":{"rendered":"Ian Brady appointed chief executive of financial planner Fairstone \u2013 The Irish Times"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Ian Brady has today been announced as the next chief executive of financial planning firm Fairstone Ireland, succeeding the firm\u2019s founder Paul Merriman in the top position. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Merriman, who established the advisory firm \u201caskpaul.ie\u201d in 2016 before it was acquired by UK-based Fairstone Group for an undisclosed sum in 2022, will now serve as its president.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Fairstone has acquired 20 independently owned wealth management and financial planning firms in Ireland within the last four years and now has over \u20ac4 billion in assets under management, the company said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">It employs approximately 240 people in Ireland, and provides advice on investment, inheritance, retirement, mortgages and wealth management to over 70,000 clients across the country.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Brady joins the firm from Unio, where he served as chief executive for two years before departing in February. He had previously worked as managing director of wealth management at the firm for one year. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">After completing his business studies at University College Dublin, Brady joined Davy in 2004 and worked in the investment financial services company for 21 years, ultimately serving as its managing director.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" class=\"c-image audio_image\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/1785510146_345_1784803479672-9ae96ac7-c636-4bcb-998c-c0aedcc60931.jpeg\"\/>What size does your pension actually need to be for a comfortable retirement?<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">He described taking on his new role at Fairstone, which is subject to regulatory approval, as \u201ca privilege\u201d.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">He said the group\u2019s chief executive, Steven Cooper, \u201chas set out a clear vision for Fairstone, an advice-led, client-outcome focused, whole-of-market wealth business, with the ambition to double by 2030 across the UK and Ireland\u201d.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">\u201cSteven talks about clarity of purpose, integrity and stewardship, and that mirrors exactly the belief I\u2019ve built my career on: we have no business without our clients.
