\n\tDC<\/a> Studios and HBO\u2019s \u201cBooster Gold<\/a>\u201d TV series \u201cwon\u2019t be moving forward,\u201d writer David Jenkins<\/a> said on Friday.c<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cMy \u2018Booster Gold\u2019 won\u2019t be moving forward,\u201d Jenkins wrote on Threads<\/a>. \u201cCan\u2019t improve on Mahershala\u2019s lovely statement so I\u2019ll just apply it here as well.\u201d He reposted a quote from Mahershala Ali\u2019s recent GQ<\/a> profile story in which the actor said he\u2019s moving on from Marvel\u2019s \u201cBlade\u201d movie after it had been announced in 2019 but never went into production.<\/p>\n

\n\tJenkins\u2019 statement on \u201cBooster Gold\u201d quoted this post, seemingly drawing a parallel between the stalled productions: \u201cMahershala Ali officially confirms that he\u2019s moved on from Marvel\u2019s \u2018Blade\u2019: \u2018For whatever reason, that project is not for me. If they wanted to do it, we would\u2019ve done it. So I have to move on, and I have moved on. Again, you had me under contract, they have billions of dollars, if they wanted to do the movie, we would\u2019ve done the movie. I feel ready to move on from the \u2018Blade\u2019 questions. Those questions are for them. They didn\u2019t want to do it, so they should answer that question.’\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe \u201cBooster Gold\u201d show was announced in 2023 as part of DC Studios\u2019 initial slate reveal for the rebooted universe by James Gunn and Peter Safran. Among those announcements were the \u201cSuperman\u201d and \u201cSupergirl\u201d movies, which have both released in theaters, 2028\u2019s \u201cThe Batman: Part II,\u201d plus 2024\u2019s \u201cCreature Commandos\u201d series and the \u201cLanterns\u201d HBO show, which debuts next month. Other projects that were announced to be in the works were Andy Muschietti\u2019s Batman movie titled \u201cThe Brave and the Bold,\u201d James Mangold\u2019s \u201cSwamp Thing\u201d movie, an Amanda Waller TV series and a Wonder Woman show called \u201cParadise Lost.\u201d There was also a movie based on the Authority superhero team, which is no longer in development. DC Studios did not reply to Variety\u2019s request for comment.<\/p>\n

\n\tJenkins, who created HBO\u2019s \u201cOur Flag Means Death\u201d pirate comedy, was hired in July 2025 to pen the pilot and serve as showrunner if it was ordered to series. This past April, Gunn had said that \u201cThe Authority\u201d was no longer in the works, but added that \u201cBooster Gold\u201d remained in development and \u201cParadise Lost\u201d was in \u201cextreme development.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tBooster Gold is a time-traveling hero from the future who goes back in time to the present and pretends to be a celebrity. He\u2019s known for his cocky attitude, teaming up with fellow hero Blue Beetle and traveling with his robot companion Skeets.
