{"id":618368,"date":"2026-08-03T15:42:20","date_gmt":"2026-08-03T15:42:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/618368\/"},"modified":"2026-08-03T15:42:20","modified_gmt":"2026-08-03T15:42:20","slug":"gym-penis-is-real-why-it-happens-when-to-see-a-professional","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/618368\/","title":{"rendered":"&#8216;Gym penis&#8217; is real \u2014 why it happens, when to see a professional"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It\u2019s the opposite of <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/06\/08\/health\/3-bodybuilding-myths-debunked-by-new-study-including-the-pump\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">the \u201cpump.\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Summer\u2019s in full swing, and men are looking for any way to get bigger, from a good long gym session to a <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/02\/20\/health\/nycs-20k-s-w-a-g-procedure-can-make-your-penis-bigger\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">below-the-belt enhancement<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>But unlike the increased blood flow gym-goers feel after lifting weights, \u201cgym penis\u201d may leave men with an unwanted post-gym surprise.<\/p>\n<p><img style=\"aspect-ratio:1.49926794;display:block\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" data-modal-image=\"40159226\" width=\"885\" height=\"590\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/136271498.jpg\" alt=\"A shirtless man in bed looks down in shock while pulling down a brown blanket.\" class=\"wp-image-40159226\"  \/>Some men may experience an unwanted side effect after a tough workout known as \u201cgym penis.\u201d vladorlov \u2013 stock.adobe.com<\/p>\n<p>If they want to get bigger, men turn to <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/02\/24\/health\/gym-bros-are-ditching-steroids-for-a-healthier-performance-enhancer\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">peptides<\/a> to stimulate muscle growth or to a plastic surgeon for filler injections to increase girth.<\/p>\n<p>However, the former may cause a decrease in size, albeit temporarily.<\/p>\n<p>Colloquially called \u201cgym penis\u201d or \u201cgym dick,\u201d the phenomenon refers to the shrinkage that occurs after a workout session, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/injectorchris\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Chris Bustamante<\/a>, an aesthetic nurse practitioner and the founder of Lushful Aesthetics.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMany men experience some degree of temporary retraction while working out, but the amount varies dramatically,\u201d Bustamante said. \u201cSome barely notice it.
