{"id":618452,"date":"2026-08-03T16:54:14","date_gmt":"2026-08-03T16:54:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/618452\/"},"modified":"2026-08-03T16:54:14","modified_gmt":"2026-08-03T16:54:14","slug":"met-eireann-issues-storm-and-rain-warnings-for-four-counties-the-irish-times","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/618452\/","title":{"rendered":"Met \u00c9ireann issues storm and rain warnings for four counties \u2013 The Irish Times"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Storm and rain warnings are in place for four counties from 5pm as thundery <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/weather-ireland\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/weather-ireland\/\">conditions <\/a>push in from the south.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Co Cork is subject to a yellow thunderstorm warning from 2.44pm to 6pm on Monday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/weather-ireland\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/weather-ireland\/\">Met \u00c9ireann <\/a>warned of possible lightning strikes along with heavy rain, spot flooding and difficult travel conditions.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Yellow rain warnings are also in place for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/weather-ireland\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/weather-ireland\/\">Waterford, Wexford and Wicklow<\/a>, also warning of spot flooding and difficult travel conditions.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">The latter warnings were due to come into place at 5pm and last until midnight.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Small craft warnings are in place for the northwest of the island from Slyne Head to Malin Head until midnight.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">The UK\u2019s Met Office has also issued a yellow thunderstorm warning for the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/weather-ireland\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/weather-ireland\/\">six counties<\/a>: Antrim, Armagh, Derry, Down, Fermanagh and Tyrone, for Tuesday, from noon until 9pm.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">The Met Office warned of disruption to outdoor events and transport.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">No further <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/weather-ireland\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/weather-ireland\/\">Met \u00c9ireann <\/a>warnings for Tuesday were in place for counties between the south coast and Ulster by Monday afternoon, though the small craft warning on Tuesday extends around most of the island.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Monday\u2019s highs have been between 19 and 24 degrees on a day that was warm for areas not yet affected by heavy rain.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">A mild and humid night has been forecast, with lows of 16. Heavy rain was expected to spread northeastwards, dissipating to showers further inland.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Tuesday is set to have a cloudy start, with patchy rain in parts.
