Bruce Springsteen celebrated his wife, Patti Scialfa, being cancer-free more than eight years after she was diagnosed with blood cancer<\/a>.<\/p>\n

On Saturday, the \u201cDancing in the Dark\u201d crooner shared the news during a virtual appearance at Boston\u2019s Pan-Mass Challenge fundraiser, which raises money for the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute to support cancer research and treatment.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs you know, Patti\u2019s been living with her multiple myeloma for over eight years, but now, thankfully, she is in remission,\u201d he told the audience.<\/p>\n

\u201cHowever, like millions of families facing cancer, we\u2019ve learned what every patient learns: Hope has a face. It\u2019s our physician, who refuses to stop searching and caring. It\u2019s our nurse, who sits beside us when we are scared,\u201d Springsteen, 76, added.<\/p>\n

The Grammy winner explained that he was able to see the work happening at Dana-Farber \u201cevery single day\u201d Scialfa, 73, underwent treatment, applauding their care and research.<\/p>\n

\u201cPatti\u2019s journey has taught us something,\u201d he continued. \u201cI hope every one of us and every American can understand. Medical research isn\u2019t an idea. It isn\u2019t politics. It isn\u2019t a line in a budget.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s the reason families find hope when hope seems hardest to find,\u201d Springsteen continued. \u201cWhen we lose sight of that, we lose sight of one another, and that\u2019s too high a price for anyone to pay.\u201d<\/p>\n

The hitmaker thanked fundraiser attendees, concluding, \u201cPatti and I are grateful for everything you continue to do. Thank you.\u201d<\/p>\n

According to the Mayo Clinic<\/a>, \u201cmyeloma is a cancer that forms in a type of white blood cell called a plasma cell.\u201d<\/p>\n

Scialfa was diagnosed with cancer in 2018 but kept her journey a secret until 2024, when she appeared in the documentary \u201cRoad Diary: Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band.\u201d<\/p>\n

The guitarist, who has been a member of the rock band since 1984, explained that she stepped back from performing because touring had become a challenge.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis affects my immune system, so I just have to be careful what I choose to do and where I choose to go,\u201d she explained.<\/p>\n

At the time, the guitarist (seen here at the 2025 AFI Fest) shared that her condition led her to take a step back from performing. FilmMagic<\/p>\n

\u201cEvery once in a while, I come to a show or two and I can sing a few songs on stage, and that\u2019s been a treat. That\u2019s the new normal for me right now, and I\u2019m OK with that,\u201d Scialfa added.<\/p>\n

When previously asked about her hiatus from the group in 2023, the musician told Asbury Park Press <\/a>that she was working on a solo album and taking care of her son Sam\u2019s daughter, Lily, who was born in July 2022<\/a>.<\/p>\n
