The long-awaited return of Star Wars to the big screen might have been met with a bit of a shrug<\/a>, but the galaxy far, far away is still capable of being creative, especially when it comes to its more offbeat projects. One that looks very promising is The Ninth Jedi, a standalone spinoff of the acclaimed Star Wars: Visions anthology<\/a> that marks the franchise\u2019s first full anime series.<\/p>\n

We got a first glimpse of The Ninth Jedi during Anime Expo<\/a>, and now a final trailer is here\u2014with the reminder that, hey, there\u2019s a new Star Wars show dropping this week!<\/p>\n

The Ninth Jedi, an eight-episode limited series from Lucasfilm and Production I.G., builds on a pair of episodes created for seasons one and three of Visions, \u201cThe Ninth Jedi\u201d and \u201cThe Ninth Jedi: Child of Hope.\u201d<\/p>\n

Here\u2019s the official description of the new series, which you\u2019ll be able to watch in both English dub and original Japanese versions.<\/p>\n

\u201cPart of an all-new\u00a0Star Wars: Visions Presents\u00a0banner, which will be used to tell longer-form\u00a0Star Wars: Visions\u00a0stories, the limited series picks up not long after the events of the\u00a0Visions shorts: \u2018The Ninth Jedi\u2019 and \u2018The Ninth Jedi: Child of Hope.\u2019 In the new series, Lah Kara continues to train in the ways of the Jedi under Margrave Juro. Kara goes on an epic journey of self-discovery as she and Juro\u2019s small fellowship of Jedi-in-training embark on a quest to save her father.\u201d<\/p>\n

The creative team includes supervising director Kenji Kamiyama, director Shunsuke Tada, and producer Hitoshi Ito. Star Wars: Visions \u2013 The Ninth Jedi arrives August 5 on Disney+. Will you be checking out this new frontier for the franchise?<\/p>\n
