Houdini is an amazing tool because it allows me to quickly prototype any idea I have and then, if I see potential, its procedural nature lets me quickly begin polishing that rough prototype.<\/p>\n
The other great tool I’ve been using, and what drives the main simulation in this piece, is Theory Accelerated’s Paradigm solver by Matt Puchala. This is a GPU-accelerated fluid solver that is orders of magnitude faster than Houdini’s native FLIP solver. This plug-in has been a game changer for me since speed is very important when you are doing little experiments like these after work, simulating and rendering everything on a single computer.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Software Choice I usually complete all the work almost entirely within SideFX Houdini, since it is what we…\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":619284,"comment_status":"","ping_status":"","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":"","_share_on_mastodon":"0"},"categories":[267],"tags":[110271,365,362,363,364,366,18,117,110386,19,17,5],"class_list":["post-619283","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-arts-and-design","tag-3d-art","tag-arts","tag-arts-and-design","tag-artsanddesign","tag-artsdesign","tag-design","tag-eire","tag-entertainment","tag-houdini","tag-ie","tag-ireland","tag-news"],"share_on_mastodon":{"url":"https:\/\/pubeurope.com\/@ie\/117035249665298056","error":""},"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/619283","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/2"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=619283"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/619283\/revisions"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/619284"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=619283"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=619283"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=619283"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
