The woman, identified during the trial as a 29-year-old attorney, filed the 13-page complaint under the alias Jane Doe. The suit alleges that during a livestream of her testimony, Court TV featured her full name in a banner at the bottom of the screen, reports the <a aria-label=\"Irish StarLink opens in a new tab.\" class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.irishstar.com\/news\/us-news\/boston-woman-raped-irish-firefighter-37513952\" rel=\"follow nofollow noopener\" tabindex=\"0\" target=\"_blank\">Irish Star<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh\" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">39-year-old Crosbie was tried twice, after the first trial ended with a deadlocked jury. The alleged name leak occurred during the second trial, in which he was found guilty following more than 15 hours of jury deliberations. The complaint called Court TV\u2019s actions a &#8220;flagrant&#8221; abuse of the permission they were granted and argued that the network, which regularly airs sensitive cases, should have known better.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh\" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">&#8220;There was nothing ambiguous about the conditions, nothing unusual, given the law\u2019s protection of victims of sexual assault in Massachusetts, and nothing new to Court TV, who has covered such trials in Massachusetts for decades,&#8221; Doe\u2019s complaint added.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh\" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">The complaint argued that the &#8220;irresponsible&#8221; public disclosure of the woman\u2019s name made her the recipient of &#8220;vile and reprehensible&#8221; criticism from the public that has had a lasting, traumatic impact.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh\" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">&#8220;Indeed, to this day, references to Doe\u2019s identity appear in vile and derogatory comments on coverage about the trial across platforms,&#8221; the complaint said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh\" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">After the victim\u2019s name was published on the livestream, the video footage was shared to their YouTube channel, Facebook page, and other <a aria-label=\"social mediaLink opens in a new tab.\" class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.irishmirror.ie\/all-about\/social-media\" rel=\"follow nofollow noopener\" tabindex=\"0\" target=\"_blank\">social media<\/a> accounts, causing her identity to go viral, the complaint said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh\" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">The suit also claimed that after the initial violation and warning, Court TV published the victim\u2019s name a second time.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh\" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">&#8220;The damage was done \u2014 and permanent,&#8221; the complaint said. &#8220;Doe\u2019s identity had spread, and similar commentary appeared on sites beyond Court TV\u2019s reach.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" loading=\"lazy\"  src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/1785889514_198_0_OTOOLE-HEALY.jpg\" \/>Sign up to our new Crime Ireland newsletter and get exclusive content from Michael O&#8217;Toole and Paul Healy<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh\" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">The Irish Mirror&#8217;s Crime Writers Michael O&#8217;Toole and Paul Healy are writing a new weekly newsletter called Crime Ireland. It added that she regularly uses over-the-counter sleep aids for relief.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh\" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">Lawyers representing Court TV did not immediately respond to the Irish Star\u2019s request for comment. The Boston Globe reported that they could not reach lawyers for Jellysmack, the new owners of the digital network.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh\" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">The victim claimed to have written to Court TV\u2019s parent company in January, offering to resolve the matter for $2.8 million in actual damages.
