{"id":62195,"date":"2025-09-13T19:20:07","date_gmt":"2025-09-13T19:20:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/62195\/"},"modified":"2025-09-13T19:20:07","modified_gmt":"2025-09-13T19:20:07","slug":"watch-nasa-sets-falcon-9-rocket-launch-for-three-missions-at-once-from-kennedy-space-center","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/62195\/","title":{"rendered":"WATCH: NASA Sets Falcon 9 Rocket Launch for Three Missions at Once From Kennedy Space Center"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<strong>IMAP will explore and map the very boundaries of our heliosphere<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>ABOVE VIDEO<\/strong>: NASA Sets Falcon 9 Rocket Launch for Three Missions at Once From Kennedy Space Center<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/SCDTV-BANNER-580-1-e1578963229180.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-286223\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/SCDTV-BANNER-580-1-e1578963229180.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"580\" height=\"63\"\/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><b>BREVARD COUNTY \u2022 KENNEDY SPACE CENTER, FLORIDA \u2013 <\/b><strong>NASA is targeting liftoff at NET 7:32 a.m. on Tuesday, September 23, from Launch Complex 39A at NASA Kennedy <a href=\"https:\/\/spacecoastdaily.com\/category\/nasa-news-and-space-discoveries\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Space Center<\/a> for three missions that will launch together aboard a SpaceX Falcon 9: NASA\u2019s IMAP heliosphere mapping observatory, NOAA\u2019s SWFO-L1 space weather observatory, and NASA\u2019s Carruthers Geocorona Observatory.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Interstellar Mapping and Acceleration Probe, or IMAP, will explore and map the very boundaries of our heliosphere, a huge bubble created by the Sun\u2019s wind that encapsulates our entire solar system, and study how the heliosphere interacts with the local galactic neighborhood beyond.<\/p>\n<p>As a modern-day celestial cartographer, IMAP will also explore and chart the vast range of particles in interplanetary space, helping to investigate two of the most essential overarching issues in heliophysics: the energization of charged particles from the Sun and the interaction of the solar wind at its boundary with interstellar space. Additionally, IMAP will support real-time observations of the solar wind and energetic particles, which can produce hazardous conditions in the space environment near Earth.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What is IMAP? <\/strong>The IMAP mission will use 10 scientific instruments to chart a comprehensive picture of what\u2019s roiling in space, from high-energy particles originating at the Sun, to magnetic fields in interplanetary space, to remnants of exploded stars in interstellar space.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Pushing Boundaries: <\/strong>The mission will primarily investigate two of the most essential overarching issues in heliophysics. Namely, how charged particles from the Sun are energized to form what\u2019s known as the solar wind and how that wind interacts with interstellar space at the heliosphere\u2019s boundary.<\/p>\n<p>This boundary offers protection from the harsher radiation from the rest of the galaxy. It is key to creating and maintaining a habitable solar system. The physics of the boundary and how it changes over time helps explain why our solar system can support life as we know it.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Keeping an Eye on Space Weather: <\/strong>The IMAP mission will additionally support real-time observations of the solar wind, which can flood the near-Earth space environment with dangerous particles and radiation that could harm technology and astronauts in space and disrupt global communications and electrical grids on Earth.
