{"id":622553,"date":"2026-08-05T22:14:14","date_gmt":"2026-08-05T22:14:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/622553\/"},"modified":"2026-08-05T22:14:14","modified_gmt":"2026-08-05T22:14:14","slug":"eli-roth-admits-ice-cream-man-features-generative-ai","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/622553\/","title":{"rendered":"Eli Roth Admits &#8216;Ice Cream Man&#8217; Features Generative AI"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/ice-cream-man\/\" id=\"auto-tag_ice-cream-man\" data-tag=\"ice-cream-man\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Ice Cream Man<\/a> features a scoop of AI.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That\u2019s the revelation from horror director <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/eli-roth\/\" id=\"auto-tag_eli-roth\" data-tag=\"eli-roth\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Eli Roth<\/a> after he admitted to adopting the technology in a \u201cfew scenes\u201d of the slasher film, despite initially saying that animated sequences were brought to life traditionally.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In an interview on Monday, the Hostel helmer was asked if he used artificial intelligence in Ice Cream Man scenes featuring a Fleischer Studios-style\u00a0animation that entrances kids and transforms them into killers.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI have an animation background, and I drew it,\u201d Roth initially told website Polygon.\u00a0\u201cI worked with an animation team and I wanted it to look and feel like \u2014 there\u2019s an old Mickey Mouse cartoon where he goes to a haunted house and there\u2019s brooms and dancing skeletons and this kind of flowing dancing stuff and the jittery style of the animation. So I drew the loop cycles and the styles. Then I had some animators help kind of make it a little more fluid, and I worked with an artist to give it a bit of an old-timey jittery feel. But I sat there and I drew out the frames that I wanted.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It later was revealed that Ice Cream Man\u2018s credits included a mention of Dark Half, an AI visual effects company. Confronted with this, Roth issued a statement to Polygon clarifying his original remarks in the interview.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI misspoke. AI was used in a very small portion of a few scenes in the film,\u201d he said. \u201cIt was an opportunity where technology and creativity came together to help bring my vision for the film to life.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Roth was not specific about whether his clarification referred to the animated sequences in Ice Cream Man.
