{"id":622563,"date":"2026-08-05T22:23:31","date_gmt":"2026-08-05T22:23:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/622563\/"},"modified":"2026-08-05T22:23:31","modified_gmt":"2026-08-05T22:23:31","slug":"fitch-turkiye-to-remain-major-em-debt-sukuk-issuer","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/622563\/","title":{"rendered":"Fitch: T\u00fcrkiye to remain major EM debt, sukuk issuer"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>             ISTANBUL<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/6a72dc94fb32054b49574ebf.jpg\" alt=\"Fitch: T\u00fcrkiye to remain major EM debt, sukuk issuer\"\/><\/p>\n<p><a title=\"T\u00fcrkiye\" href=\"https:\/\/www.hurriyetdailynews.com\/index\/turkiye\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">T\u00fcrkiye<\/a> is likely to remain a major global <a title=\"sukuk\" href=\"https:\/\/www.hurriyetdailynews.com\/index\/sukuk\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">sukuk<\/a> and emerging-market <a title=\"debt \" href=\"https:\/\/www.hurriyetdailynews.com\/index\/debt\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">debt <\/a>issuer in 2026, driven by high external financing needs, upcoming maturities, wider fiscal deficits and efforts to diversify funding sources, <a title=\"Fitch\" href=\"https:\/\/www.hurriyetdailynews.com\/index\/fitch\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Fitch<\/a> Ratings said in a new report.<\/p>\n<p>Fitch said sovereign issuance will continue to dominate the sukuk market, while banks and corporates are expected to access capital markets opportunistically. However, investor sentiment and volatility linked to the war in Iran could limit issuance activity, it said, adding that T\u00fcrkiye\u2019s hosting of COP31 and the new National Green Finance Strategy could support ESG debt growth.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cForeign investor demand for recent Turkish sovereign U.S. dollar sukuk and bonds remained intact, but foreign participation in the local-currency market is falling. Most Fitch-rated Turkish sukuk are rated \u2018BB-\u2019 with no defaults,\u201d said Bashar Al Natoor, Fitch\u2019s Global Head of Islamic Finance.<\/p>\n<p>T\u00fcrkiye\u2019s debt capital market continued to expand despite war-related volatility, with outstanding debt exceeding $516 billion at the end of the first half of 2026, up 9 percent year-on-year, according to the report.<\/p>\n<p>Fitch said T\u00fcrkiye ranked as the sixth-largest emerging-market U.S. dollar debt issuer, excluding China and the fifth-largest sukuk market globally during the period.<\/p>\n<p>Fitch said spreads on T\u00fcrkiye\u2019s 10-year dollar-denominated sovereign bonds widened after the outbreak of the Iran war but returned to around pre-war levels in June and July.
