Two water tankers and a foam tender have also been dispatched to the car scrapyard in Wimbletown, Ballyboughal.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Smoke from the fire at the Scrapmycar yard could be seen from about 20 kilometres away in Dublin city centre this afternoon.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>    <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/@TheJournalVideo\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">The Journal<\/a> \/ YouTube<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFirefighters are already on scene dealing with the fire,\u201d the fire brigade said in posts on social media.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSmoke is visible across the city and firefighters are advising anyone affected by smoke to close all windows and doors as a precaution.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis will be a protracted incident and we expect to be on scene for the foreseeable future,\u201d Dublin Fire Brigade said.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/1786037355_469_.jpeg\"  alt=\"IMG_4251\" class=\"alignnone inline-image\" \/><br \/>\n            Smoke from the fire in north Co Dublin seen from Dublin city centre                    The Journal<\/p>\n<p>    The Journal\n<\/p>\n<p>LiveDrive, which tracks traffic disruption, urged motorists to help the firefighters \u201cby keeping the area clear and expect smoke on surrounding routes\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Local independent councillor Cathal Boland said he saw the fire from Ballyboughal, not long after it started.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe smoke that was going up was incredible,\u201d he told The Journal.<\/p>\n<p>He said he went to track down the source of the smoke and ended up helping to divert traffic, which has been sent along a nearby country road to avoid the area.<\/p>\n<p>He said it was \u201cnot a major traffic problem,\u201d though.
