{"id":624065,"date":"2026-08-06T19:19:19","date_gmt":"2026-08-06T19:19:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/624065\/"},"modified":"2026-08-06T19:19:19","modified_gmt":"2026-08-06T19:19:19","slug":"fire-service-battles-large-blaze-in-dublin-as-residents-advised-to-close-doors-and-windows-the-irish-times","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/624065\/","title":{"rendered":"Fire service battles large blaze in Dublin as residents advised to close doors and windows \u2013 The Irish Times"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/dublin-fire-brigade\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/dublin-fire-brigade\">Dublin Fire Brigade<\/a> (DFB) has advised any residents close to the scene of a large fire at a car dismantlers in Wimbletown, north Co <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/dublin\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/dublin\/\">Dublin<\/a>, to close all windows and doors as they continue to work to control the blaze.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">The service says it was alerted to the fire shortly after 3pm on Thursday afternoon and responded immediately.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">By 5pm, it said there were eight units at the scene:  five fire engines, a foam unit and two water tanks.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">The fire is located near Ballyboughal in Fingal, not far from Lusk, and is visible across a wide area.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" data-chromatic=\"ignore\" alt=\"Black smoke drifts from the scene of the fire. Photograph: Garrett White\/Collins <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">DFB says a senior officer is overseeing the operation to extinguish the fire and it is receiving support from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/meath\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/meath\">Meath<\/a> fire service. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">It says it expects its personnel to be at the scene \u201cfor the foreseeable future as this will be a protracted incident\u201d.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">The cause of the of the fire is not yet known. <\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" data-chromatic=\"ignore\" alt=\"The smoke could be seen from a far distance away from the site of the incident.
