Marvel\u2019s new X-Men team appears to be coming together. <\/p>\n

\u201cHeartstopper\u201d star Kit Connor<\/a> is reportedly Marvel Studios\u2019 pick to play Scott Summers, the mutant hero also known as Cyclops, in its upcoming \u201cX-Men\u201d reboot. According to Deadline<\/a>, the film\u2019s director, Jake Schreier, and Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige had met with a number of candidates before landing on the British actor. <\/p>\n

Marvel did not immediately respond to a request for comment. <\/p>\n

Created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, Cyclops is one of the leaders and founding members of the X-Men. He needs to wear special eyewear \u2014 usually goggles or glasses \u2014 to control the beams of energy that blast from his eyes<\/a>. The character was previously portrayed by James Marsden<\/a> in Fox\u2019s original \u201cX-Men\u201d film trilogy (2000, 2003, 2006) as well as in the 2014 crossover \u201cX-Men: Days of Future Past<\/a>.\u201d Tye Sheridan played a younger version of the character in \u201cX-Men: Apocalypse<\/a>\u201d (2016) and \u201cDark Phoenix<\/a>\u201d (2019). <\/p>\n

Marsden is among the original \u201cX-Men\u201d actors set to reprise their roles in the upcoming \u201cAvengers: Doomsday<\/a>.\u201d <\/p>\n

Connor\u2019s casting follows recent reports<\/a> that Samara Weaving has landed the role of Emma Frost in the upcoming \u201cX-Men\u201d film. Created by Chris Claremont and John Byrne for the comics, the mutant-villain-turned-hero is a powerful telepath also known as the White Queen. The character has previously appeared onscreen in \u201cX-Men: First Class<\/a>\u201d (2011) portrayed by January Jones. <\/p>\n

With his \u201cX-Men\u201d casting, Connor would join his fellow \u201cHeartstopper\u201d and \u201cHeartstopper Forever<\/a>\u201d star Joe Locke in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Locke made his franchise debut as William Kaplan, a.k.a. Billy Maximoff<\/a>, in the 2024 Disney+ series \u201cAgatha All Along<\/a>.\u201d <\/p>\n

These latest \u201cX-Men\u201d developments follow the debut of the MCU\u2019s new Jean Grey, portrayed by Sadie Sink<\/a> in \u201cSpider-Man: Brand New Day<\/a>.\u201d Although no official announcements have been made regarding Sink\u2019s future Marvel projects, she is expected to appear in the \u201cX-Men\u201d reboot. <\/p>\n
